Conrail
Conrail was formed on April 1, 1976 by the US Government to take over the ownership and operation of six bankrupt eastern roads. Including the Central Railroad of NJ, Erie-Lackawanna, Lehigh & Hudson River, Lehigh Valley, Penn Central, and Reading.

Pennsylvania Railroad Forum
The PRR was originally a line from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. It grew by leasing other roads. In 1863 the Pennsy contracted with the Philadelphia & Trenton, The Camden & Amboy, and the Delaware & Raritan Canal Company.

Raritan River Railroad Forum
The Raritan River Railroad (RRRR) began operating in 1888 and grew to the final size of 12.6 miles in 1917. The mainline ran from South Amboy to New Brunswick.The RRRR served many industries along the Raritan River until 1981

Rio Grande Railroad Forum
The Rio Grande as it existed in 'modern times' is a result of it's merger with the Denver & Salt Lake RR, completed in the 1940's. It was a bridge route which received traffic off the MoPac, CB&Q-BN, and the WP. Later the SP.

Rock Island Railroad Forum
Originally founded as the Rock Island and La Salle Railroad in 1847, Rock Island trackage stretched from Minnesota in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south, and from New Mexico through Chicago. The railroad met its demise in 1980.
