I'm doing research on building another indoor G scale layout. I'm considering building on foam tables, I've read a few threads on foam based G scale layouts but don't seen a great and easy solution. What is the best way to attach standard LGB/USA trains/PIKO etc. code 332 track to foam? Do people just glue it, does it work and does it stay glued? What type of glue do you use?

Ted,
a friend of mine uses cork strips. First the strip is glued to the polystyrene with white glue and then the track is nailed on those strips. It has the additional benefit of reducing vibrations and noise.
If you want to glue directly, that will work too, as long as you have enough surface area. Most G scale ties are hollow, so what you can do is fill them with a piece of wood glued into the tie and then use that surface area to white-glue the tie to the polystyrene. I guess one out of twelve ties should be sufficient.
Best regards,
Frédéric

Gorilla Glue or any of the off brand water activated polyurethane adhesives works best on foam base. When it kicks off the glue expands to fill the void under the ties. Do a test piece before committing to the entire module.
On the Sundance Central we have used literally gallons of GG. We have foam base and foam rocks, we use it everywhere.
