Some of my completed projects. First up two factory painted Bowser RDG covered hoppers with weathering added.

Two more Bowswer units that started as undecorated models.Painted mofw gray,decaled with highball graphics and weathered.

 All four units.

A couple of RDG 50ft boxes.Both are Accurail models.The double door started as an undecorated model and the single was painted IC and had to be stripped.Both units were painted using SCII RDG green,decals from Highball Graphics and weathered. 105463

Chris;
Really beautiful work!
What division of the P&R do you portray?
I live in Lancaster County, PA, just a few miles from the Columbia end of the old C&R branch.

2771-chris Very good weathering work on the hoppers & boxcars! What era are your models supposed to represent?

Cajon;
Not trying to take over for Chris, but these cars would be 60s, to the end of the Reading lines.

Nice job.
Actually with the amount of weathering they would be 70's to the end of Conrail. Especially since all the built/repack dates on them are the late 60's, early 70's.

Thank you for the compliments.The photos were taken on my 2x8 diorama I built a few years back.My 12x12 is in the planning stages encompassing the RDG's last 10 years.I grew up in the coal regions of Schuykill County Pa. and plan to somewhat duplicate some of the scenes from those areas in the fall season motif. Again,thank you.

I completed a couple of boxes and gons the last few weeks.First up a couple of RDG 50ft boxes from the XMz class.The units started as undecorated Accurail models.SCII boxcar red was used,decals from the readingmodeler and weathered with pan pastels & aim powders. 115311 L&R side views.

115345 L&R side views.

Coupled together.

My next unit is a so called foobie although its based on a RDG 46' gon.I wanted to use the Walthers 46' offering but couldn't locate one.I had an Accurail 40 sitting on the self so I decided to go for it. Before painting I added the reinforcement bracing to the top rail using EG styrene angle 291 and notched it out with a straight razor.The unit was painted using SCII RDG green and the rail was hand painted PS RDG yellow.Decals from the readingmodeler and weathered with the usual powders.
29215 side one and two.

29215 with a load.

More gons to come.

Bruce,thank you. I'll continue with the next two completed units.Both are MTH offerings that were factory painted for the RDG.I wasn't pleased with the reading application,seemed the letter were too big in my minds eye. The following pic has the factory painted unit sandwhiched between the two redone units.
 After they were stripped with Scalecoat paint remover I used the same materials as on the previous gon 29215. 37282/88

 Weathered interiors and coil wire loads.

 Three RDG gons with wire loads.The black unit is a P2K model I did years ago.
