Nice night shot. I couldn't help thinking as I looked at the picture how great it would have looked with a lighted locomotive, caboose, or passenger car on the track behind the filling station.

Thanks Jon, glad you liked it. Your idea is a good one, I'll have to reshoot that sometime with a train in the pic!

Hey great job there Mike, I was just browsing around here and spotted this. Very nice modeling indeed and the night scene is wonderful, I like the way you have the vehicles placed to. Jerry

Thanks Mike.... I may take you up on the offer next month when I am at the convention in Waynesville.... I was only there long enough to grab a few hours of sleep and gone well before day light. I would like to see the exhibit. Danny

I have had a couple of e-mails wondering if I am enjoying my On18 shoe box challenge so much I have crossed over to the dark side and abandoned the N ormal scale. No I haven't but it made me realize it has been 3 months since I did anything on the "real" layout so time to get back on it for a bit and take a break from the shoe box. This next area needs a retaining wall:

Here we see the boys hauling in more spackling compound as we alter the landscape to make the wall fit better:

Now we are ready to start adding the ground covers, trees ect.:

If I use this building it will need some more work but it gives me an idea of how the finished scene would look.

Mike, I just finished checking your last two updates. (I love the photo of the 'boys hauling in more spackling compound' - a great visual pun!) Once again, nicely done scenery!

Mike, I'm just catching up on your thread and am really enjoying your progress. I love your gas station scene! And your last tutorial on the wall installation is great! Thanks for sharing and keep the progress coming.

Thanks Mike and Mark! I didn't get any response to the LPB'S hauling in the spackle so I guessed nobody cared for my warped sense of humor Mike, glad you liked it.
