Lengthy description of the choices available to members in this year's "So Many Choices, So Little Time” Challenge can be found at this thread: http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=53446

This thread is where participants can discuss which of the choices he/she is choosing, comment on other members' posts, post progress photos along the way, or even document the entire build.

Final photos of your project(s) can be posted in this thread: http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=53471

We hope that we get great participation in this year's Challenge. We all have many options from which to choose!

Thanks Mike and Rob. Rob, Campbell included that very fine sand in a plastic bag in the kit.

Looks great Bruce. the addition of the tie rods to hold it all in is a nice touch.
What did you use for scale sand ?
Michael Hohn Posted - 02/27/2021 : 7:52:42 PM
Excellent job on the bin, Bruce. You’re making good progress.
Dutchman Posted - 02/27/2021 : 6:52:37 PM
The Campbell Sand House kit is really comprised of three distinct 'structures'. The first, the sand bin, is done. I'm now working on the second, the drying house.

Thanks George and Bruce it has taken a long time for me to get where I'm happy with my metal roofs.

George your covered open area is really looking great. I really like what your doing with the shingles. The tar paper patch work looks great. I like your idea of using a toothpick for the finial.

Bruce the sand bin looks great. I like the color of the wood looks great.

Larry thanks.

Mike great job on house. The metal roof looks fantastic.

Bruce I remember seeing those old Campbell kits years ago. Be interesting to see what you do with it.

Rob the addition adds tons of character to the building. I really like the detail on the gable end.
robert goslin Posted - 02/25/2021 : 5:32:46 PM
Thanks Bruce, Mike & George.

Nice work Bruce. Could fill in as the Alamo.
Very solid looking, as I guess sand would put a lot of outward pressure on the sides.
Dutchman Posted - 02/24/2021 : 5:19:40 PM
The sand bin portion of my Sand House build is quickly coming together. I added a wood base and rail sections as internal braces. Both recommended in the instructions, but not included with the kit.

It's fascinating to watch your building grow, Rob.

Michael Hohn Posted - 02/24/2021 : 09:11:21 AM
Looks great, Rob. The new section adds a lot to the overall structure. The gable trim contributes in particular.

Dutchman Posted - 02/24/2021 : 08:47:35 AM
That looks great attached to the main structure, Rob. I think that achieved your goal on that last roof section.

robert goslin Posted - 02/24/2021 : 03:27:52 AM
I've now finished it off this small section.
I made a gable trim, and the finial is actually a toothpick.

For the roof I wanted a slightly different look, so I did shingles again, but have also added tar paper as well, to look like a repair.

And here's how it looks when attached to the main structure. I've also temporarily added some windows. I usually don't add my windows till last so I don't get any paint on the glass.

robert goslin Posted - 02/24/2021 : 03:25:48 AM
Thanks Bruce, Larry & Mike.
Bruce, you sure are a busy man this year. 3rd structure already. nice going.

Mike, I really like your build. You always do nice metal roofs.
Michael Hohn Posted - 02/23/2021 : 8:43:19 PM
Very good job on the house, Mike.
Dutchman Posted - 02/23/2021 : 6:11:22 PM
What George said about your roof, Mike. Great job!
