Does anyone currently offer in HO a Railroad Tie Tong or an Ice Tong?

Am detailing a Blacksmith Car. I know SS Limited makes a Blacksmith Detail set but my friend just needs a tong detail.

Greg,

I was thinking about doing something similar to what you came up with, but I have too many irons in the fire already !

I wouldn't consider yours too long, as he said they wanted long tongs. Especially when these are long tongs from years ago.

Bruce, you could try making your own using .020 brass rod.
For fun I just tried making a set.
Bend 2 pieces of wire into identical shapes needed to form the tongs.
I then carefully hammered flat the brass rod on the tong ends.
And used a small file to give me a more pointy end of the tongs.
Glued the two sides together, and it's done. Perhaps my handles are a bit to long, but those can be easily shortened.
Took about 15 minutes.

I'm certain if I were to make a second one, I could do a much better job on it.
Just wanted to show how easy this could be.

At Seashore we use Willard's "small tie tongs". We have his "rail tongs" but have never had a large enough gang to use them. And our Pettibone has been able to reach anywhere we've needed to put a rail since I joined the gang.

The 1:1 'tie tongs' we use at Seashore are fairly close to ice tongs in shape, except the handles extend farther up above the pivot. The 2-man tongs in Faller #151000 are closer to 'rail tongs', but in the US they usually grip the head of the rail, rather than under the base.

I don't know what you decided on, but those tongs are so small you could convincingly enough make one from wire or solder to be used as a detail item.
I know this is a much larger version, but it show how to make a set of tongs. You just have to make them a lot smaller; https://www.instructables.com/id/Whiskey-Ice-Tongs/

Model Tech Studios offers an Ice Delivery Man with tong and ice blocks. Don't know of any selling just the ice tongs.
Also Woodland Scenics Chips Ice Truck figures has a man with ice tongs.
And Faller HO #151000 has figures with track tongs.
