once i finish up the bed breakfast (today) i plan on starting on the backwoods water tower next.
has anyone on this forum built this kit? i'm nervous about starting it because the included templates are in H.O. and not O so if there's anyone that's built this and has any tips, i would really appreciate them.

got the track weathered and glued down. then i put down the dirt (note the blue tape dam to keep it from gettin' all over the place). i've got the dirt how i like it, so i pulled the dam off over the waste basket, carefully turning as i go...(.never mind), and put a fresh dam on for the gluing part, which i'll probably get to after i finish a sub-project of my next proejct.

thank you bruce. it's a really cool kit, and i you need a water tower this is the one.

Very nice rendition of the kit, Kevin. I have the HO version sitting on the great shelf of unbuilt kits which I hopefully will get to before it gets into my estate sale.

rich, mike and dave: thanks. hopefully some nice trees will make it that much better.
i'll be adding the track and detailing that over the weekend.

It looks superb! If anyone starts looking too close, give them a rap on the nose! I bet they won't notice anything wrong, anyhow.
Cheers,
Dave

I like the thick bushes and the entire scenery, looks great. I have yet to build one of these, just looking for a nice concept, and yours is superb. Thanks for sharing.

thanks. i still have alot of small stuff to do, gaps to hide, etc., but it's coming along.
i might have to hit that railing on the top with some chalks to darken it up a bit.

got a little more work done on the watertower. started on the greenery this morning. here's a few pics of the progress:

the tree is just a placeholder until i can make a couple better ones.

Kevin, that looks fine. I only had part of one panel split but I think it was because it wasn't wet enough. I didn't use water on my siding because it would cause the wood to swell. Instead I used 90% Alcohol and liberally applied it to both sides when forming around the can. I then also used it again when attaching to the frame, but only on the outside. The key is to use a can or tube just slightly under the frame size so once the panels are curved they won't split.

Hi Kevin, the tank has come out brilliant. A lot of work, and at times frustrating, but that's all good for learning.
It is a craftman's kit, and you've done a wonderful job.

Is it going on a layout, or diorama?
