Since I've been up to my eyeballs in outdoor projects, the bench time has been at a premium, I decided to
put the layout on the back burner until late Fall/Early Winter. So to have something to do at the bench every
now and then I thought I would start something that I've been itching to do for awhile.
So that being said here is my version of Brian Nolan's Repair Shed. His was used as inspiration only because
I wanted to give it my own twist:
This is going to be a diorama which measures 11 inches deep by 15 inches wide being built on a piece of green 1" foam. I wanted to
challenge myself so with that in mind I've added some contoured pink foam (for those of you who love pink foam) to have trees and
overgrowth on the top flat area and weeds with junk thrown in on the hill. Also I hand laid a small section of track to hold a short
flat car which will end up being a tool car.
This is the end view of the shed which was constructed from plans that I made on 1/4 inch graph paper. The barrels are from
SW painted and weathered to support a scratch built bench which will be littered with tools and such. The floor goes all the
way through the Shed and was made from scale 12x3's, colored with chalks, weathered, and put down in sections to appear
with seams with nail holes added.
This is the back with scratch built dirty windows. The entire structure was built with scale 6x6's used for the frame along with
scale 1x10's for the walls. All the wood used was grained, colored with chalks, some splits added, and also nail holes added.
The doors were constructed using scale 1x1o's and 1x6's given the same treatment.
Just to prove this is a Tractor Repair Shed, here is the tractor that I borrowed from the layout which fits nicely through the doors.
Also I left the doors open so down the road I can get some nice photos looking through the building.
This is as far as I've done thus far. Lots of plans for this diorama that will be done as time permits or until I go back to the layout.
