Good morning all from 80f -> 95f N.E. Indiana where the heat index was at 120f yesterday. The coffee urn is READY with Ashpit blend this morning. The special is cold cereal or oatmeal. The smoothie machine will be a favorite as well. Plenty of water in the fridge as mainline power was restored at 2300 last night.

We had a Duratio (sp) on Monday night with 100+ mph winds and a lightning show for the ages. Multiple power poles were snapped off at the base. The guy just south of us had a 2 foot wide base maple snap at ground level and it took out two adjacent power poles. I lost at least 5 of my huge maples here, and maybe 10+ blue spruces. The maples were at the end of the driveway and cut us off from the highway. #1 son came over and we hacked our way out with my batter powered sawzall's and a tow rope to clear an escape route. Heat index was 100+ for the past 3 days. I ran my generator until mainline was restored last night. I 'missed' my first cardiac rehab session. (Actually the past 2 days was probably harder than the final exam).

PS the brand new SKIL chainsaw refused to start. That conversation will be this morning, as power had been restored to the town where I bought it, at about 1800 yesterday. Today will be R&R inside, those branches and logs are going nowhere in this heat.

Have a Super day, we'll have a better breakfast tomorrow.

    Jim

Good morning, Jim and crew. It sounds like you need a break, Jim. Our passing thunderstorms this morning are only getting everything wet.

I have some inside chores and then I plan to spend some time in the train room.

    Have a good day.

Good morning Jim, George and the rest of the crew. It is 75 degrees and heading up to 88 later today. We had an "non-forecast" line of thunder storms move through the area between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. It is now supposed to clear up for the rest of the day.

Jim, do you burn wood at all?

No outdoor work planned. It is supposed to be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow, so any projects can wait a day.

      Have a great day!

We have not so fond memories of the derecho that came through here a several years ago. Power was out for 5+ days in the middle of summer; cooked everything on the grill; shared with the neighbors......was a surprise being out that long since we're walking distance to the hospital and on that same bi of the local grid. We went around the neighborhood chainsaw in hand cutting trees and branches, opened up one of the roads from a tree that was down, working for all until we dulled all the chains I had on hand.

Monthly sojourn to Costco today. Hobble about with my back........happy day. Once i get moving it's not too bad as long as I stay upright; that up / down thing - not so good. Managed to push the mower about on the front lawn after dinner last night and survived....

Testing out stripping paint off a Rail Craft hopper with fake TSP.......take phosphate out and replace with stuff that's environmentally more toxic......but it's phosphate free so it's all good, Got a 2nd hopper waiting on the one bench for its turn. Maybe the fake lacquer thinner...........

        So it goes.........

Good morning Jim, George, Bruce, Martin, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge Jim. Coffee, it is the best way as we all know to start off the day.

Back to 66 degree weather, but sunny here in Rhode Island at the moment. Not going to get much warmer they say.

Not sure what today will bring yet. I'll have to play it by ear.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

Good morning from hot 82F West Virginia. Low nineties expected later. Beautiful day, though, with lots of sun and the flowers are happy. I'll largely stay indoors and admire the garden from there.

Not much modelling getting done right now. I have other things in the works. Odd jobs around the house, that kind of thing.

            Have a good one.

            Mike

              Mornin' All!

73, headed to 86, and hum-diddy now around 70% here in the northern mitten. Line of severe thunder bumpers went through just before midnight, followed by more after midnight, and severe clear this morning. That will, no doubt, change. No derechos here, though, which is good-- there is stuff still messed up from the one five years or so ago. Yuck!

The Name Game...! I had my Annual Preemptive Medical Examination yesterday. New term for the Annual Wellness Encounter, which was the new term awhile back for the Annual Physical. Same process but somebody probably got a giant bonus and a corner office for thinking up the new terms. Wonder what it will be next year.... Oh... and apparently I may live.... Dentist today. Thrill a minute around here, but hopefully some bench time tonight.

Make it a great day, All, and stay safe!

Hi all, been hiding in the ICE Cave the last couple of days, thankful for missing the Big Blow. Overnight rain has moderated the temp a bit and greyed the sky. The grass and clovers are a bit wild looking so I’ll likely get out in that with the green go-chine and give it a buzz. Sun and warm not blazing heat later.

Jim, quite a mess you’ve got there sad to lose the maples and spruces. We lost almost all of our spruces to some creeping crud 5-6 yrs ago and had to have them yanked like so many molars…found out most spruces sold around my area are not really suitable for Michigan. 36 of them, the side yard looked like a Yooper’s dentation

Well, off to breakfast. Toss a Jimmy Dean’s sausage crossaunt (sp) in the microwave.

                Be well all…

Good to know. Headed to Northern Command next week. Read that I-75 the main aorta to da Yoop is on a bypass situation right at Mac-city with traffic sent into town then back at foot of Da-bridge. Should be fubar on weekends for sure.
