Good morning all from 54f and maybe clear N.E. Indiana. The coffee urn is READY with Inspection Car blend. The special is Biscuits and black pepper gravy, we haven't had it in months. The oatmeal pot has a box of raisins next to it. All other beverages are at the end of the line. The Smoothie machine (and TomO) has been getting a work out, these past few days.

We took a ride up to the Amish supermarket yesterday picked up some cheese logs, that I'll divide and put into sealed packages. Inflation has hit that place as well. It looks as though there are many taking advantage of the situation, but Cows? They're still making milk, right? Then we planned on stopping at a small country restaurant for lunch. It's folded since last November. So it was a DQ stop for lunch.

The rain started early afternoon and continued well into the evening. I watched youtube videos on JMRI between intermittent naps.

Lou's latest build looks very interesting.

    Have a Super day!

Good morning all! Long time, no see! Sorry for my long absence. Life has just been so busy since starting my job almost 3 months ago.

Really really tired this morning. Haven't been sleeping well the last few nights and it's really starting to catch up to me. Not sure why I'm not sleeping well, but I keep waking up every couple hours all night.

Got a few projects at work I'm in the middle of doing or planning. We bought a couple Logitech Rally Plus camera systems for classrooms and I've been working out how I want to install those. I and my part-timers installed part of one yesterday and plan to finish the job today. Still have another one to do after that but we haven't worked out how that one will be done yet. In addition to that, they moved a bunch of people around campus to different offices and I'll have to go in and run new network and phone connections for them once they get the offices set up.

No time at all lately to think about model railroading. Hoping to get back into it once gardening season is over. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning, Jim, Ken and crew. It's going to be a warm day in Tidewater, Virginia. I have some errands to run, then I'm meeting a friend I haven't seen in a while for lunch.

I hope to wrap up my cassette project today and move on to some fun things.

      Have a good day.

Jim, DQ for lunch, oh boy rock bottom in my book! Sorry to read about the inflation issue and then the closed restaurant. We are finding in the county we live in many restaurants are now are closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and when open close the doors at 8 with the kitchens closed at 8:30. They have to do what they can to survive. I know the owners (different) of our local Culver’s and McDonalds and their business is super booming. Terry is a friend of the local owner of the Arbys, Taco Bell and at onetime our DQ. BK and TB are not doing well and 6 months after building the DQ grill (before Covid) they closed it and sold the land to a bank who then razed the building.

The 10 year old granddaughter moved from 5 to 6th grade in a rather cool ceremony. The Kindergarteners to 4th grade were all in the hallway clapping as the 107 5th graders marched by heading to the ceremony and afterwards to the middle school. The g/d has a group of 4 friends that make sure she is fine in school, the bus and playground. They have all been together since pre-school. I have a picture but no permission to use it.

The above picture are the neighborhood High School crew of 4 + 1 I don’t know. The black haired one but Miss H does. The 4 have helped watch over Harper since she came home as a baby from the hospital. They came to the ceremony. The one in orange on the far right is her mom, our daughter. Today and tomorrow they will spend in the 6th grade learning how to navigate around the building and each new 6th grader is paired up with one moving up to 7th grade. Miss H. has met her Special Needs team and she says they are nice.

More hockey today after a day off yesterday. USA versus Canada and it should be a good game. We are debating the 1st game of Finland versus Sweden.

Typical for me when attending a few hockey games, I have a sore throat. Started yesterday morning and per instructions I had to call my doctor. I have a Perscription to pick up this morning which to me would normally be overkill. But I cannot have a sore throat for my radiation treatments at the end of the month.

Terry does leave tomorrow for Paradise. The brother’s house is supposed to be available tomorrow and she will do the walk through with the contractor on the 11th. He is in Arizona taking care of the girlfriend as she goes through her chemo treatments. My sister was supposed to go with Terry but her Parkinson’s has flared up. Yep, we are a mess!

I visited the train room yesterday. The layout is still there and my bench looks the same as it did on Sunday. I hope to rectify that today, but with high 70’s and it being dry today I will be out on the deck.

        TomO

Must have been poor ownership at your DQ. Our's is one of the best in the nation, and usually has foreign and domestic management from new DQ's in for training. Actually their daily charbroiled cheeseburgers are one of the best. Mc'Donald's is never a choice, unless for a McWhiz.

Rained late yesterday but today looks promising. Back spasms still with me though, so getting about is a little iffy at time - the miracle of Advil (have to visit the shrine) and the blessed heating pad work wonders.

Lots of office work to do today and NMRA stuff to prep for as well. Might get into the shop a bit and work on a few projects.

Every week seems like it's a string of obstacles to traverse..................again..........so why did I retire again? Oh, right.....I remember...

Good morning to the entire crew. It was once again down in the low 50's last night. They say we might dip into the upper 40's tonight. This is June, right?

Ken, when I got swamped at work, I often did not sleep well either. The mind kept working on those 'problems' even it I was not consciously doing it. At those times, my good friend would remind me that "I wanted that job".

Tom, good pic and one happy little girl!

Bonnie has all the 'makings' for her spaghetti sauce ready and will make a big batch today. The meats she uses in the sauce include lamb, beef (her meatballs), and Pork (Italian Sausage). Yum.

Once it dries up a bit (it rained heavy again last night) I will do some weeding. I also plan some time at the modeling bench.

Good morning Guys, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge as usual Jim. It is the best way as we all know to start off the day.

Jim thanks for your comment on my latest build. Again, for those that missed it, I started a new Critter project in the logging and mining section for anyone interested.

68 degrees, cloudy and raining heavy here in Rhode Island this morning.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

Jim, the DQ thing was strange. But this community we live in is a bit off center. The building was beautiful and always seemed to have a drive up line. The food was not very good but better then the DQ’s in North Central Wi. I tried many times to lunch at DQ and it was not even ok food. Except for Culver’s and McD around here, fast food is suffering. I will only stop at McD when we are on travel trips for the clean restrooms and a pop!

Bruce, thanks. Yesterday was one happy day for the family but Harper really enjoyed it. Even loved it more at dinner last night. Chicken strips and fries at her favorite Mexican restaurant. She loves guacamole and chips. But, finally because she always asks for Barbecue sauce, they had it!

Good morning from rainy West Virginia.

Yesterday I managed to weed a large part of our backyard garden. It looks a lot better. Of course, it's only temporary.

Not much done railroad-wise. Today . . . we will see.

                Have a nice day.

                Mike

Hmm…missed early breakfast. Biscuits and gravy (Spell check inserted GRAVITY) sound good. Been a long,,long time

Just got back from carting the Doll around, hair repair and a stop at an old friend’s for some pre-garage sale look see. Picked up a bear skin of all things and the mounted skull it had.

Sun and 68-70 is the day’s weather today. Time to get out and do something.

                  Everyone have a fine day.

Nice crew in the pic, TomO.
