    Sleep-through Thursday

    Huh, I'm first up this morning? We'll do LaBrea Tarpit Blend in the new big coffee pot. Toroidal Sugar Bombs (donuts) on the buffet, along with scrambled eggs and scrapple sausage.

    Weather in SE NH is actually pretty good for sleeping. Cool and rainy. The grass is growing like crazy, so when it dries out -someone- will have to cut it.

    Yesterday I got a box from Downtown Deco. Not only is his stuff really nice, no one does a better job of packing fragile stuff than Randy!

    This morning I'm driving up to see a MRR friend for a couple of hours. I'm not sure what else is happening today.

      Good morning Dave, and the incoming crew! What a treat to show up late, and have everything taken care of. Same weather here, and I took advantage of it.

      I worked on that redrawing project until midnight, and finally ran out of gas about 98% finished.

      I just got a call from a semi-truck driver that is delivering a 600 lb box and wants to drop it at the end of the driveway. The end of the gravel driveway is about 800' from the house. Who does 'home' delivery with a semi-truck? COSTCO!.

      Have a Super day, this one is going to be interesting!

        Off to a small town just north of here. Our senior coffee group member is turning 98, so it's usually a larger group that attends. The man is a marvel. Mentally sharp, has built and maintained a large HO layout and attained MMR status many years ago. 99 per cent of what he has done he did as he says "single handed" as he lost his left arm on a beach in Italy during WW II.
        Maybe a haircut later and some more yard work.
        Karl mentioned the "Premium Cyprus Mulch" About 60 bags laid down so far and another 20 or so to go and I'm done. Not the yard, just me. Hope everyone has a relaxing day.

          Pass along all our regards to 'Birthday Boy!' I threw a birthday party for one of my former employees who turned 100 last August. He too was a WWII Vet, a Captain under Patton at the Bulge`. Wer're looking forward to celebrating 101 this August, he'll probably drive himself, just like last year.

          MarkB. 80 bags, we only have 20 that we were doing 5-7 per day. 1 day left and we now need 10 more bags. It seems the application machine decided she wanted her beds thicker this year. Since she was spreading the mulch they became thicker.I am just the grunt labor this year.

        Good morning to the entire crew. It is 56 and heading up to 72 here in S.E. Michigan. We are expecting some light rain here this morning.

        I bought a bundled group of model kits on Trainz.com and it contained a beautiful all metal passenger car kit from O.K. Streamline (Herkimer Tool & Model Works - Herkimer, NY). Have any of you ever heard of this company and know the time frame of its operation?

        Well, with the rain, my outdoor work is on hold, so some modeling time will fill the gap.

          I believe Herkimer also manufactured the 049 O.K.Cub engine, that model airplane modelers loved in the 1950's.

          I remember seeing those OK streamliners yrs ago in my “yout” adv in MR? No personal experience with them.

          I recall Herkimer extruded aluminum body shells from 1960s MR ads. I think the dies changed hands, probably multiple times after Herkimer closed. IIRC similar extruded aluminum bodies were available as recently as the turn of this century, though I don't recall that manufacturer's name.

        Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin where the weather guessers were wrong again yesterday. We reached 80 which made it a delightful afternoon but a rather cool morning. Today they are saying 75 which means we should break 80 today. It is very clear blue and the wind is a mere 5mph.

        Well, no matter how my doctor appointment goes tomorrow we will be staying in Wisconsin a few more days. The 10 year old granddaughter is graduating from 5th grade, elementary school to sixth grade in the Middle school. Big deal for the family as she is Down Syndrome and this is a great achievement for her. The ceremony is 6/8/2022.

        I will head into the train room that I have been avoiding. I didn’t want to leave a project on the bench since the plan was we were leaving Friday. Now with at least another week I will have the needed time to finish.

          Spending the day working on/off on the galley proof; in between working on submitted articles to edit.

          Got some decals to apply and some assembly to do on a project for when the eyes get tires of reading and reading and reading.......

          I'm thinking a long walk today regardless of heat just to clear the head & eyes.

          But 1st, more coffee!!!!


          So it goes.....
          In a time like ours seemings and portents signify. Ours is a generation when dogs howl and the skin crawls on the skull with its beast's foreboding.

            Good morning. It's a sunny 73F in northern WV, nearly the high for today. Good day for getting out on the rail trail.

            I did a lot of small jobs around the house yesterday. My model railroading consisted of writing an article on our new club layout and a progress report for the club business meeting this evening. I think I'll do something different today.

              Good morning Guys, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge this morning Dave. It is the best way to start off the day.

              64 degrees and cloudy here in Rhode Island today. Got a late start with the RR-L Forum today, I went out this morning and put down Step #2 of 4 step Scotts lawn fertilizer.

              Thanks to all for the Critter build comments. I finished my Crane Critter Locomotive, and finished the Boom Car as well. Looking for something else to do now.

                Cool, bright sun and dull wits this morning. Now that it’s afternoon.

                Jim, I happened onto a Yoo-toob video some truck delivery guys does. Orange truck I think Home Depoo, he defined his work as “curb side” delivery as edge of road. Theme of his vid seemed to be he’s a nice guy and customers are “Karens”.

                No hobby stuff today. The Doll is boiling, stray hen from neighbor’s has been rearranging the premium cypress mulch..dumplings for dinner?

                I've been spreading the mulch rather thin. More of a cosmetic improvement. Just stopped at the Orange Big Box store and picked up a few extra bags. We had a nice gathering for our 98 year old friend and got caught-up on happenings with the others. Beautiful summer day here. Too nice to be at the bench.

                  It's going to be Thursday here for another 1:15. No modeling Wednesday because the kid had a regional middle school track meet; He won the mile, then there was a celebration and I barely squeezed my evening computer work in before bedtime. Today was a better day at Seashore, as a tech told me the rail saw's manufacturer's brand of blade needed to be installed with the warning label out. Not mentioned in the manual, on the blade box or the blade's label, but it has worked once. I have a bunch of measuring and rail bending before I try another cut.
