  • Tuesday morning lounge

Good morning all from 72f->86f and humid N.E. Indiana under Partly Sunny skies. The coffee urn has signaled READY with Siderod blend. The special is a short stack, sausage patties, and scrambled eggs on the side. Fresh oatmeal pot batch is gurgling at the end of the line with the other beverages.

I spent a couple of hours yesterday mowing about 3 acres of grass. Then went out to the shop and worked on the JD for another hour. By that time the heat index told me it was time to hit the rain locker and switch to indoor activities. So I got to the bench and continued the redraw of buddies layout. Not too exciting of a day. Well, at least the grass is mowed for the next week.

Heading out to work on the JD before it gets too hot here.

    Have a Super day!

Good morning, Jim and crew. We're supposed to make it into the 90's and I have some outdoor chores to do, so I'll be doing them early.

I'm working on designing and making rerailers for my cassettes. I think I have a good design, so I now have a bunch of styrene to cut.

    Have a good day.

Good morning Jim and the rest of the crew. 71 and heading to 87 here in S.E. Michigan under sunny skies.

A little weeding early, and then indoor activities are on the agenda. I should get back to work on the Roundhouse Tank Engine build this afternoon.

      Have a great day!

        Good Morning All,

The "water" pour went well except for overflowing the berm I had made. It was messy but nothing on the floor. It's dry now without any blemishes but it's crystal clear although it was supposed to be murky. It was murky when I mixed it. So, I need to figure out a wash to put on it to cloud it up since you can see the straight painted plywood through it.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Well, Jim, sounds like you had a full day, and after what you've been through, "a full day" is an accomplishment!

Karl's comment to Curt wins the forum for today.

It's the last day for Modelers Forum. Welcome aboard, those who are joining this one for the first time.

Bright sun, 70+ going to bounce off of the 9-0 barrier ‘they’ said this morning with a slight chance of thunder toward the end of the day. Breeze to eez the discomfort slightly.

Changed a headlight in the 4Runner yesterday. What a crazy project. The other side will be worse, much, as the battery is in the way. After the plastic cover across the whole front of the radiator core support comes off again, 13 pop in/out plastic fasteners hold it down. About time to replace the battery, too. Might as well. $$$ spend it before the gubbamint takes it and gives it to the non working….saw a guy begging for money the other day, standin in front of a sign….HIRING…

          Well, folks, it’s summer….enjoy it while we’ve got,it. Been a long time coming…

Good morning Jim, George, Bruce, Curt and those Crew inbound. 2nd morning in May 2022 I am sitting on the south deck at 7 in the morning. 2021 according to my daily journal I was out here 12 times. According to the radar I will get forced back inside though around 8. 72f degrees now heading only to 78 with the winds at 15mph with gusting to 25. Rains starting at 8 and on/off through out the day.

Yesterday was a nice day but the winds were consistent in the 20mph range with gusting in the 30’s. I think I prefer the 80’s and higher winds then today’s 70’s and rain.

We had a last minute out dinner instead of grilling. We hit 5 Guys last night. Steadily busy but at the new prices I can’t see many families continuing to feast there. Still a great burger and the mini fries can feed a family. I see a few of the Socialist in Congress are calling for more handouts to us poor Americans. I think they forget the free handouts in 2020 and 2021 are what got us to this inflationary mess.

If and when the rains come I will head to the bench in the train room. It is always nice in there at 68f degrees and no wind or rain.

            Enjoy your day

Karl it looks like you got our weather from yesterday except we had no T-storms.

Near our main grocery store there is a pan handler (pc correct name) on the grass median with the sign asking for money and help. On the building behind him, 2 traffic lanes and then maybe another 30’ away is the Goodwill Center. The big you can’t miss it hiring sign says $11 to start and advance to $18 after 45 days with same day pay. People were giving the guy money anyway.

Across the street in the City of Madison, their ordinances forbid pan handing but say they will not enforce it. Their previous Mayor did.

Politicians by the way don’t muddy the waters. The committee of experts they formed would

Another good looking day ahead so more painting outside and some yard work before it gets too hot.

Errands to run 1st and then the day is to be spent in the office working out on the magazine and other "stuff". Projects in the shop are on semi-hold until I get this entrance way lamp re-assembled and ready to install. Need to hit the store for a specialty bulb for the re-assembly.

Had the SiL clan over for dinner last night and it was nice enough to eat out on the deck. All the plants out there let me know it's time to do a little gardening action today, too. Tomatoes are looking good in their cages. Looking forward to fresh off the vine tomatoes in my salad.

            So it goes...

Good morning folks, it's been about 7 years since I've last posted, does this mean welcome back ? :-)

Temp here in SW Ontario is currently 22C, that's 72F, with a high of 30C (86F)...

Good morning Guys, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge as usual Jim. It is the best way to start off the day.

77 degrees and sunny here in Rhode Island today. The temps to keep going up for the day, then back to low 70's again tomorrow.

More progress work on my Crane Critter Locomotive today. I should be finishing it up and post the finished locomotive today, then move on to the Boom Car.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy Memorial Day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

Good morning. We have a warm and sunny 70F with an expected high of almost 90F in northern WV. I won't be doing a lot outdoors except a walk. It had better be soon, too.

Not sure what is planned for today. I have a couple of household projects in the works so maybe I'll tackle them before getting back to the locomotive tender.

                Have a nice day.

                Mike

                  Mornin' All!

79, feels like 82, headed for 86 and partly partly under the gathering grey blanket here in the northern mitten. This sounds like yesterday's forecast of 89, which topped out at about 91.... And yes, there is outdoor work to be done, but high heat and hum-diddy are not good for me, so that may get put in the Mañana file.

Hoping to get the Doodlebug finished today, then off to the photo lab for its "Builder's Photo" shoot. Mother Nature does not seem to be in harmony with the outdoor sunshiny plan, though, so I may have to revert to artificial lighting. Either way, it will be good to have the beastie off the bench and earning its keep.

Make it a great day, all, and stay safe.
