    Bridgeport Series II CNC. New Machine Day !!!

    After 6 months everything fell into place.. moved a FEW tons of machinery and opened a garage door that hasn't worked for well over 10 years.. the Series II Bridgeport arrived ! Took about 4 hours of figuring the wiring out and she lives ! Looks like i will be spending quite a bit of time cleaning, making sure the lubrication system functions properly and fabricating new bedway covers ill be making chips !

    weighing in at almost 6000 lbs this machine is my largest yet.
    Centroid M400 CNC Control with power servo motors.
    full 3 dimensional CNC with rigid tapping capabilities, digitizing attachment, touch off and edge finding probes
    taper 30 quick change tooling

    this machine is a beast !!!

    will keep me busy for quite awhile

          Thanks guys, lucked out in a major way on this one. Series II Bridgeport except for being filthy this machine is in excellent condition.. spent quite afew hours taking it apart to clean everything. tons of swarf and old oil in the cavities of the box ways and knee. Very lucky the machine has excellent way wipers. The Series II machines were all hand built and fitted at the factory.. they only made them for a few years as they were way too expensive to purchase. i found this one at a college that the shop teacher was retiring and there was no one to teach the class. apparently this was his " baby " and was not abused by the students. Will finish cleaning it then move it to its spot in the shop. need to plumb air to it and run a 3 phase plug . also took off the guards and sent them out to be blasted and powder coated... finally i will have to test the automatic oiling system. quickest way to destroy a machine is to starve it of oil to the machine bedways.

            Machine looks in excellent condition. I see there are two more Bridgeport's in the background.

              Thanks Bernd! Im a bit Bridgeport obsessed there are 7 in the shop 2 manuals and 5 cnc’s and 2 I have stored at a buddies warehouse..

                Made some progress on the milling machine... removed all the guards, and cleaned all the machine ways now that we are almost swarf free ( i keep finding more every time i work on it ) slapped on the vises temp so i could start designing a chip enclosure.
