Good morning Jim and the rest of the crew. It is 54 degrees and cloudy here in S.E. Michigan. No rain expected today, but starting tomorrow and onward for a few days looks wet.

We had our checkups yesterday. The big news was a tetanus booster for me. My hands are often in the soil, and with paper thin skin now, I often have cuts/scrapes,punctures, etc. The booster sounded like a good idea. Raising rabbits and chickens over the years until we moved to Michigan, that is one shot that I've always kept up.

Jim, I started teaching BASIC back in 1968. My first teaching job right out of college, and none of the more senior math teachers wanted anything to do with it. Back then we were using teletype machines to connect to a HP computer that was located in a neighboring High School. Brings back memories. As for running out of disk space, just add an external hard drive ad infinitum.

Good morning Jim and inbound Crew. 56f degrees in So. Central Wisconsin. High yesterday was 61 with today’s prediction 86. Climate change!

Driving along at 10:30 to drop the daughter, grandson and Terry at the Milwaukee airport around noon. The driving embargo is still in effect at least till my 2:30 appointment with the doctor today. I have a feeling based on the MyChart discussions with her the embargo continues as I know she already told me to cancel the Hawaii visit. Such a “cancel” culture.

I generally don’t worry about the Stock Market. But, come on this is nuts. Institutional stock trading, ah forget it…

Terry says this is an opportunity, she has been in a buying mood the last few days and last week. Personally I would go to cash and put it in the backyard.

Jim, I delete photos after 6 months if Terry doesn’t want them on the external server. I can’t image keeping data from 81. I guess that’s why our world is so interesting

About 30 years ago, a friend did a back-of-the-envelope (or more accurately, scribbled-on-a-napkin) calculation that it wasn't worth deleting any file smaller than 10kb, because the time it took to make the decision was worth more than the disk space. I'm sure by now that would be 1gb... My first experience to computers was the terminal on a PDP-10 along with some programmable desktop calculators back in '70/'71. I bought my first computer in Oct '78. But I've had the same email address since 1986...

Drying up today after a mid-March like nasty drizzly cold soaking rain yesterday, high 43. Kept me at the model bench tinkering at dccing the GP30 I just re-geared. Teeny little leds and 1k resistors and shrink wrap. Very slow going. Weather today 80/20 clouds and sun. Warmer at least. May tinker with the bench stuff then outside to the “shop” and do some things.

I need a tetanus shot, too, but my drive-by Doc didn’t bring it, or much of anything else, up in our blink and it’s over visit 2 weeks ago.

Had a tiny little visitor trying to find warmth on the slider last evening: ​ All of about an inch and a half long. ​

My first computer exposure was basic(?) or cobal 67-68? Go to the punchcard station, make a stack of cards, take a bus ride across campus to the COMPUTER Lab building and give the stack to the geek at a window. Then return 2-3 days later, get the white-lt green striped printout, figure out why it didn’t work, repeat until it does…things have improved so much, the little pad beneath my fingers can “blow-up” toss you the finger and time you out in moments instead of days! Ahhhh….modern tech, fubar in mere micro-seconds !!! Instant feedback on what a dope you are

First real life computer experience was the LEIN, Michigan State Law Enforcement Information Network system input was with a punch tape that had to be 100% correct, no ; for a : or the whole thing would fail…took minutes of often frustrating attempts to get it sent, then it came back seconds, minutes, hours or days later on a teletype printer with rolled newsprint tear off ‘hard copy’. That lasted for years. I used to have the printout of the wanted message for Orenthal James Simpson for Murder…

Good morning, Jim and crew. Tidewater Virginia is going to be in the high 80's today. We're going for a walk shortly while it isn't too warm.

I received a steroid injection in my bad knee, this morning. I'm good till September.

I know what you mean about thin skin, Bruce. I now carry band aids in my wallet and have some at my workbench. Taking a baby aspirin every day doesn't help.
