John, I read a very interesting article in Railway Age this morning on the STB hearings

    https://www.railwayage.com/regulator...campaign=32475

It sound like the RRs swallowed the Precision Scheduled Railroading hook line and sinker,, very interesting.

Karl.....I have been watching the Surface Transportation Boards meetings lately on YouTube. UP told a fertilizer supplier in Louisiana they would have to cut their freight car allocations by 20%. That company supplies fertilizer to Texas Oklahoma Kansas and a few more surrounding states. Pilot, a company that ships diesel fuel and produces DEF, was told by the railroad that their car allocation would be cut anywhere from 27 to 40%. Please note, I am not talking politics here, but just suggesting that if anyone wants to learn more about shipping and whats really going on, they can check out some of the STBs latest videos and draw you own conclusions. Just food for thought here.

Good confused morning in So. Central Wi. I was up at 4 this morning, showered and shaved waiting for Terry to haul me off for surgery. A day early, it’s for 5/5, tomorrow. Oh well!

Got the daily total 2 miles in by 8 so this afternoon’s walk is extra credit! Lack of thyroid replacement meds made the 2 miles an adventure. Pushed myself to finish it. Not feeling the best the last few days. Continuous sinus leakage, a head ache and some slight chills before bed yesterday. After I realized the date this morning, I gave myself a Covid test. I am negative and officially per Dr. Tom have a cold. I will get a Covid test before surgery as they say it is now part of the morning screenings for the doctors victims.

No plans today as I did mess up my days

Really wet here in rural South Michigan, a foot of open water in the pasture across the field. I’ve not seen a freshly worked farm field anywhere in the area, usually the corn is poppin up by now. Word of fertilizer shortages I’m sure have the folks concerned, too. Scary business to be in. Was at the aJohn Deere parts place recently and there was a video on their screen over the shelves that showed a huge un-manned tracked motive devise pulling a huge implement through a field. They already used geoplotted gps devises on the big tractors and fertilizer application equipment that can actually vary the rates of application in different part of big fields based on analytics of the fertility of different types of soil. Kick that kid running the tractor to the curb, if you can even find one to show up to work, would take a stressor off their lives..

Some lighter skies and warmer temps on the guess sheet for today. Was wetter than heck yesterday, it rained hard most of the day. We did have a quartet of deer out back for an hour or so yesterday as well as a sighting of the first hummingbird of the year. Funny, was at the back sliding window when the hummer flew up about 2 feet outside at eye level as if to announce their return. The Doll dutifully mixed up a batch of sugar water, cleaned up the feeder and hung it up in the rain. We have a half dozen or so that frequent or facility threw the summer.

    Time for brunch. Then, hmm…

Good morning from sunny but wet northern WV. 61F currently. It's not expected to be as warm as yesterday.

I mowed and trimmed the front yard, so was able to keep tabs on neighborhood activities. Lots of house renovations going on, including two houses being painted.

If things dry up sufficiently I might mow the back yard today. I'll set the mower a little shorter this time. That reminds me, I have a haircut in the afternoon.

I don't see much time for modeling. I need to look some things up anyway.

    Have a great day!

Rain with thunder & lightening last night so everything is wet and slowly drying out -- yard work and other outside work is on hold.

Plenty of office and shop stuff to do.....like laundry.....now there's entertainment. Caps won last night; bit of a surprise.

See if I can wrap up a bobber caboose today and get that off my bench. Was hoping it might be dry and warmer so I could splash a little primer on that brass tank car........

Rain today in SE NH. It's the next-to-last geology class, and my presentation on my term paper is due today. I need to leave early and buy donuts or cupcakes or something to take with me to soften up the audience.

    Wednesday Morning Lounge

Good morning from S.E. Michigan where it is cloudy and 45 degrees. We had plenty of rain yesterday but the sun might make an appearance this afternoon.

Breakfast consists of blueberry pancakes made with fresh blueberries, and I stopped at the ATM so I could buy some Bacon, so enjoy. Plenty of real maple syrup from Michigan, as well. Our coffee is our Ashpit Blend.

I did get some time at the modeling bench yesterday and will get back there later this afternoon. In the meantime, there are errands to be run.

    What is on your agenda?

Working...
