  • Good morning Jerry, Rick, Mike, where is everyone this morning? and to all the incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge Jerry. Coffee, it is the best way as we all know to start off the day.

Mike, yesterday did get some bench time in, but not enough to brag about.

72 degrees, and sunny here in Rhode Island at the moment. Should see the mid 80's by noon time.

I'm not sure what my day will bring yet. I'll have to see up comes-up. Stayed away from any parties this year. Just grilling here at home.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. Enjoy your 4th of July with what ever you choose to do. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

      Neat GIF, Lou!

  • Happy 4th!!!!

Jerry thanks for the coffee and vitals.

Rick so when are you officially retired?

Keep it brief this morning as I hear roof panels calling my name; of course safety first.
Going to 81 and sunny with rain tomorrow which is a good thing; I think I'll need the rest.

Enjoy your holiday and stay healthy!!!!

    • Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin. I am almost ready for the 10 couples to arrive. While we put time limits on invitations we always get early arrivals and late stayers. It’s just a guide but 5 of the ladies including Terry have a flight out tomorrow, so I doubt we will have too many overstayers.

Karl, nice pictures. Since the new software was installed I have had no time outs. I also have fiber optic Internet rated at 1gig but that didn’t help me with the old software here.

The guys with the younger wives are all now retired. 2 doctors, a couple school system superintendents and the rest business of some sort. All though seemingly very well off. I would say at least 4 of those wives previously worked for the now hubby, Terry would know.

Rick, glad you made it to retirement. It’s a new life. Make time for yourself and learn how to say no nicely.

Mike, I think my wall hanging fastener stuff rivals the different amount of Kadee couplers I have. So many choices

      Jerry, enjoy the beach day

Larry, by decree of the wife and doctors roofs are forbidden to me.

      To all be safe

      • Well Rick, Now What?

Brief line of yellow and red on the map just passed before
I woke op, sun sparkling on the water is dazzling. Temp is coolish, hoodies are the attire for the day.

The trip up was uneventful land traffic was moderate but blew by us easing along just a tick over the posted-75.

Had a fire in the pit last night and about 10:45 (dark is late here) we watched the fireworks from Manistique and all around the area reflecting across the lake. Afterwards we could see cars moving like little ants for nearly an hour on US-2. Glad we stayed here. It was 64 degrees

-posted early? to avoid red triangles-

Addition: Vince the neighbor, cop from Chitown area, gave me a pile of fireworks and I shot of a couple. Went ok. The Doll’s grand daughter came with us and is having allergies this morning. Doll’s younger daughter and sil are headed here. She’ll be 40 tomorrow.

Mike, not sure what Fire Dept your sil is with. A
bunch of us got all excited by a big adv push from an area S of Atlanta that was having exponential growth in the 80s, Clayton County, we all looked into their openings, I looked at County Police and the others at FD. None of us went, thought of over $5k less pay was less than enticing to uproot for. Back in 70s I looked into the state investigation unit SLED in S Carolina, filled out app. and sent it and resume. After a few weeks received a letter from the director that only slightly politely said “stay home Yankee we don’t need your type down here…”.

Well enough ramblin…everyone have a great day. Fly the flag tip a glass or two and enjoy. What a great day of Independence, for Rick, especially an all of us.

        • Good morning everyone.

Sunny, with a high near 87.

A slight chance of showers after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88.

Karl, I'll start planning a trip in the car to S. Dakota to claim residency.
Hope to get a DL and register the car there too.
More research needs to be done.

Tom, I'm sure all had a good time yesterday.

          Larry, yes please, safety first.

          Louis, what did you grill?

Mike, I haven't had crab legs in years, how were they?

          Quiet here yesterday.
Hope all the other regulars and lurkers had a nice day yesterday.

          Last day of employment today.
After nine I'll go to Trenton station and hand in my ticket stock, punch and working fund.
Then driver over to Morrisville and hand in everything else.
Sign the sign-up sheet and I'm free.
Lunch in Princeton at the best steak house in the area.
Taking The Dinky to get there.
A cigar and some Pappy's 12 yo that I've been saving after I get home.
          Trivia tonight with friends.

          Have a great day everyone.
Follow along as my dog and I travel the country in our van.

            • Good morning,

Rick, thanks for coffee. Sounds like a busy day, but it ends on the high note. Congratulations.

Karl, that letter was horrible. We lived here in the 80's. There are a lot of "Yankees" here now. SIL is Marshall in Peachtree City, southwest of Atlanta.

Tom, you are right about the fasteners. Safe travels to Terry.

Larry, if you post here today, I'll know you didn't fall off the roof.

              Louis, ditto Rick's question.

Forecast for today is 89F with showers in the afternoon. Yesterday's picnic was tasty and the fireworks last night were splendid. We were up front near the igniters so the view was perfect.

Rick, congratulations on your retirement. A cigar and a drink will become even more relaxing now.

It was ribs on the grill, with a nice cold beer.

                • G’mornin’ from the Yoop. Rain in the night and it’s damp and overcast. Suddenly, as about this time last year, the May flies are EVERYwhere all over the windows and their carcusi will be littering the place tomorrow. Temp is 63, there are 94 Humids hanging thick this morning. Good thing the fireworks were the third, it rained last night the time they’d have shot off.

Today is daughter LYNDSAY’s 40th birthday! She and her hubby are here with us. G’daughter Savannah, 19, other daughter’s girl, is as well. We’re headed out later to the Hurricane River park, remember the pick-a-nic table in the snow drift a few weeks ago? Then off to Munising for chow then an evening boat ride to the pictured rocks. Hopefully the haze layer lifts by then. I have the Nikon battery on the charger.

We went to the “Biggest touristy overpriced shirts and stuff to clutter up your cabin walls in the UP store” yesterday. Girls bought UP shirts while I sat in the $400 plastic Adirondack chairs in front. The owner, Bob our builder’s sister, told the Doll that they’d done decent this weekend but their business has been horrible so far this year. A holiday and she has to work her store as NO-one wants to work. They have another smaller store in town we stopped at, the other sister was there.

Saw a big Ford Super Duty with personalized South Dakota license plate UPBOUND, led me to believe an expat with similar plans to yours. They do have pretty plates. I did look at SDak info recently, interesting deal. We’re I single, it’d be a cool road trip to go get that done.

Well, time to run along. Everyone have a great day. Enjoy the day. Be safe, stay well.

                    Happy Birthday Lyndsay !

I was laying low over the last week & week-end. Hot as fire here in the valley. Doing great now!

Looks like the rest of the gang is doing well so later on gents! Have a great week!

                    • Congrats Rick. Enjoy the last day and be extra safe.

The party yesterday was great. Terry though lost 2 horse riding friends yesterday with one telling her she didn’t realize she was such a liberal. She had just announced that her 30+ year friend who is the highest elected official in the state was showing up. He, his wife and security detailed stayed for almost 5 hours. No discussion of politics occurred at anytime yesterday. Can’t believe the 2 riding friends didn’t know my wife and daughter are bleeding heart liberals, they hold enough political events. But it’s not the 1st “friends” she lost over politics.

Terry and the gang of 4 others leave for Phoenix before noon. From there they join with my brother and his girlfriend to fly to Hawaii. The girlfriend had another chemo last Thursday but per the brother is handling this one really well.

I will be home alone and even have to go over to the daughter’s place to water plants and flowers. Their plan is to come home next Monday. They do love Wisconsin’s Door County in the Summer and early Fall.

Remember when traveling in foreign countries to know the country’s drug laws. The US President can’t pardon you over there if you get caught and has absolutely no influence in some.

I used up after 11PM last night my last can of Testors DullCote on 4 pieces of rolling stock and a bunch of roof and wall details. In the future I hope to use another product with less smell. I have received 2 bottles of VMS Matte varnish and 1 of the gloss finish. Took 2 weeks to arrive from Poland.

Vallejo makes matte, satin and flat as far as I know, too.

                    • Good morning Rick, Jerry, Mike, Louis, Karl, Philip, Tom and the rest of the crew that shows up later.

Thanks for the coffee Rick. Congratulations on your retirement.

I see I have a lot of catching up to do. Got back to Virginia yesterday afternoon, had a pretty uneventful drive, which is a good thing.

                      Have a great day everyone.

                      • Morning Gents,

Rick thanks for the coffee. Congrats on your last work day....Yipeeeeee!!!!!!!!
I'm sure the cigar and drink will taste extra nice later on. Hope your retirement
is filled with years of happiness and joy.

Jerry good luck on the plug wires; I'm sure you'll sort it out.

Mike, nope I didn't fall off the roof. Taking my time and making sure the ladders are in
the correct position before climbing them. Not in a hurry to get the roof done so it's
a few hours a day until I get pooped then I hang it up for the day.

Louis sounds like a tasty meal you enjoyed.

                        Karl nice to get to spend time with your daughter on her birthday. Tons of flies just plain sucks;
hope their gone soon. Are the birds any help?

Philip hot weather tends to put a crimp in the plans. I'm not a hot weather person unless it's by the A/C.

Tom sorry to hear your wife lost friends over politics! One just never knows.

Ron welcome back to the States and glad to hear the ride back was uneventful.

The rest of the Crew hope you're doing well.

A cloudy 68 with a high of 81 here in New York. Managed to get one metal panel installed
yesterday which was a pain. Stopped to the hardware store this morning and picked up some new
carbide tip drill bits which should make things go much better. Also going to pre drill the holes Before
the panel goes up on the roof. Back at it today until the rain starts.

Enjoy your day and be well!!!

Partly sunny, with a high near 90.

Larry, careful up on the roof.
Philip, there won't be room in the van for a layout.

                          Karl, Happy Birthday Lyndsay !

                          Louis, any plans today?

Mike, nice shot of the fireworks.

Jerry, I guess the hood will be open to see those spark plug wires?

Tom, Ron, Dave and everyone else, hope you are all well.

Had a very nice day yesterday.
Today is the first day of retirement, but I think I have to drive to work again.
The computer system that tracks when and what we worked was down over the weekend and now we all need to submit time cards.
There's a slim chance I can do it from home on my computer but I don't think so.

I'll start doing more research into the SD trip.
                          Nothing else specifically planned.

                          Have a great day everyone.
