  • Good morning Rick, Tom, and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge as usual Rick. It is the best way to start off the day.

63 degrees and sunny here in Rhode Island today. The temps are crazy and rain to return.

Finished my Crane Critter Locomotive. I should be finishing it up and post the finished Boom Car today.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

    • Sun and 70s on tap in Michigan today after a butt kicking, too much time out in it 88 yesterday running the little finicky 2 cycle tiller so de Doll could redo the neglected area on the end of the “garridge” in F1 lingo.. Was treated to dinner and a beer out after a short nap. Rain w/t-booms passed thru 3-6 ish. I’ll re-name the little sob the Killer Tiller. Such an aggravation to start, rub your tummy tap your heard jump up and down on one foot turn left 3 times…..when the little bitch won’t fire, what part do you repeat? For God’s sake, don’t shut is down for 10 minutes….

Another trip for more Premium Cyprus Mulch is on for today. I will say, she does have the place looking good-er than if left to my ambitions

Hope all are well, June the Oneth…climatological summer hath stharted…

      Good day and be well.

      • Good morning folks,

        Rick, thanks for coffee.

Tom, I agree; it is great to be outdoors.

Dave, hope you have fun at the workbench.

Ron, that convention is rushing at you. Bet it's fun!

Jerry, did you get the truck frame painted?

Larry, hope the contractor finished and you got some bench time.

Karl, did the headlight replacement end successfully?

Philip, Kyle, et al, how was your holiday?

The forecast is 92F today, rain maybe late, but it is bright this morning. Feeling better today. I'm going to try moving a few items in the train room and maybe set up the laser.

        Have fun,
        mike

Headlight was replaced with “success” and minimal loss of blood, excessive discharge of invective as well as a bit less goodwill toward the engineers that designed it’s placement. Obviously the oriental hand is of less bulk than my delicate digits.

      • Good morning Rick, Tom, Louis, Karl, Mike and the rest of the crew that stops in later.

        Rick, thanks for the coffee.

Karl, love your ongoing battle with the tiller, hope you win in the end.

Louis, going to have to check out the finished critter.

Mike, the convention is coming up fast, but we are in good shape.

Another scorcher here in Virginia as it is presently 86F with a predicted high of 93F. No modeling for me last night as I had a Zoom meeting regarding the upcoming convention which went well.

        Have a great day everyone

          Errands to run today.
          Maybe some bench time...

          • Good afternoon crew!

It's currently 78° in the Good Land, almost to the guessed high of 81.
Nothing but sunshine til it drops below the horizon.

            Hope everyone is well.

Karl I use Premium in everything except my Silverado only because its designed and tuned for unleaded.

Been in the shop doing more terrain carving this morning with a couple other things tossed in.

I guess I should mow the lawn, the neighbor just finished cutting his dandelions.

Maybe tomorrow we'll see, this retirement thing is alright you know?.

            Enjoy the day everyone,
            Cheers!

          • Good morning everyone.

Coffee, hot water for tea and a selection of chilled soft drinks are ready to enjoy.

A chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Patchy fog before 11am. High near 84.

Dave, I can't imagine the retirement thing not being alright.

Jerry, don't think it's a beach day today but more likely a bench day.

Ron, sounds like you're ready to do the convention.

            Mike, glad you're feeling better.

Karl, I have a gas edger that was a pain to get started.
But then one day I figured out the choke wasn't all the way out and now I get it started on the first pull.

Louis, congrats on your good looking critter.

Tom, glad you enjoyed your relaxing day.

Philip and Larry, hope you are well.

            Grocery shopping this morning.
Then back to getting things listed and sold.

            Have a great day everyone.

              Rick, thanks for coffee.

Feeling better today. I worked in train room for several hours yesterday. I think I have a good plan for furniture arrangement and layout space.

Hot and muggy in Georgia. Hurricane season starts today, I believe.

Haven't really done dam thing in the last two weeks.

                • Good morning gents,

54° this morning in the Good land, headed for 77.

                  Thanks for the coffee Rich.
Remember........Don't go to the grocery store hungry, make a list and stick to it.
A lot less painful always, but especially now days.

Mike, glad your better, and to hear you got to the train room.
                  Hurricane season.....I can't imagine.
                  Best of luck!

Jerry, looking forward to anything you get into at the bench!

I did more terrain carving yesterday and built part of a small retaining wall out of wood.
More of that today, will post some pics a little later in the thread.

Mornings in the workshop have become a ritual, I LIKE it!
                  Headed down there now.

Enjoy the day you guys and all the incoming crew.
                  Cheers!

                  • Clouds and chill, , 59 degrees. The sun is supposed to show itself sometime and slow climb to 65 this afternoon. I’m cold and sore today after more outdoor work, including the yard mowing.

A few outdoor tasks to do today. No hobby plans.

Just heard from our builder in da UP, he’s out on his secret Blue Gill Lake and has his limit already, sounds like he’s working on the fish he missed when it was too windy to get out. He has his own math for such occasions. Said he has a new fish finder but it’s so complicated he can’t figure it out. It doesn’t sound like he needs it. He’s mostly retired after doing our place, his some did 99% of the real “work” anyhow.

The Doll’s headed to the store to get some pants. I might ride along so I can gripe about waiting for her… there’s a Harbor Freight nearby so maybe I’ll go there to browse.

Everyone have a fine day. Be well.

I have to stay away from Harbor Freight.....every time I go to "browse" I end up buying something.

                  • Good morning Rick, Mike, Jerry, Dave, Karl and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

                    Rick, thanks for the coffee.

Mike, glad you are starting to feel better and you are getting to spend some time in the train room.

Dave, will have to check out your progress later.

Presently 85F here with a projected high of 95F, another scorcher . Decided to take the night off from working on convention stuff, have a few more recordings to do, will probably work on that tonight.

64 degrees and cloudy here in Rhode Island today. Got a late start with the RR-L Forum today, I went out this morning and put down Step #2 of 4 step Scotts lawn fertilizer.

Rick and Jerry thanks for the Critter comments.

To all, I finished my Crane Critter Locomotive, and finished the Boom Car as well. Looking for something else to do now.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

                      • Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the java. Have fun getting stuff sold...you're going to need the extra money
                        just for gas.

Mike glad you're feeling better and are getting into the train room~persist.

Jerry hope you get some time at the bench.

Dave sounds like you're getting into a nice routine being retired; besides if you don't get to it today
then there's always tomorrow....that's one of the perks.

Karl pace yourself man....you don't want to wear yourself out with all that outside work.

Ron after the convention is over you're not going to know what to do with yourself with all that free time.

The rest of the Crew hope your doing well and Roland let us know how your doing.

A sunny 61 with a high of 73 here in New York. Looks like it may be "flower planting day" at the old homestead.
The Contractor finished up Tuesday and it look great; now on to the next 1:1 project.

Enjoy your day and be well!!

                        • Good morning. We are back from a quick breakfast out at a “new” to us coffee shop in town. On the way there, the driver got pulled over by a lovely police officer. She told the wife she saw her roll through the stop sign. But her first question was there any guns in the car? Boy did she pull back quick when Terry told her yes, 2. I had already put my hands on the dash board and Terry had hers on the steering wheel. Both permitted and no ticket. Terry did fully stop as #1 that is a major pet peeve of mine and #2 is when she stopped I thought I was going through the windshield. Terry has never had a ticket and gets stopped only in town in her little midnight blue 2 seater with the big engine. I believe they just want to see the little old lady who drives that thing. By now over the years they should know her cars.

6 bags of mulch dumped and spread this morning. Took 3 Ibuprofen and I am on the front deck. Trains later today, what I am not sure of but something!

Doctor appointment tomorrow and the plan was to fly to Austin afterwards for the start of our travels. The 10year old granddaughter has a elementary school to middle school ceremony on 6/8 and we would not miss that for the world. So, last night I called for reservations for Friday and Saturday night in Galena, Il. A quaint historical city in NW Illinois and less then 90 minutes from the house. Hotel rooms starting at $285 plus tax per night and no suites available. So if we do go, it will become a day trip. It’s also a nice drive especially with the greenery now coming out.

                          TomO

Karl, I have yet this season to catch a live video of the Laker boats coming into the Duluth/Superior Harbor webcams. Same with the locks at Sault Ste. Marie and that webcam.

Watched a Viking Cruise ship enter Duluth in near zero visibility Sat about 0630 their time. I’ve seemed to miss most entrance/exit cycles. The Duluth Cam folks (guy?) has more YouTube’s on than in the past of recent passages. Soo cam usually a poor angle or too zoomed in to see well. Ore traffic seems up at the Two Harbors port that has poor video. The fog was so thick while the cruise ship was there. I never could get a look at it. Looked it up, new in Dec. 2021, cruises the Antarctic area in their summer and Grt Lakes in ours. Can’t imagine the $$$ of that, probably more than a couple nights in Galena. $100/head round trip on the Badger a couple yrs ago, the only cold rain day thruout that summer…my birthday :-( that took care of my seafaring desires.
