With a little wanderlust I’m sure there are literally hundreds of similar treasures of times past in small cities, towns and ‘villes’ all around our country.

It appears here that Hall & Co. have a used clothing enterprise when/if they choose to be open.

Temp in 30s here in lower MI. Dull grey #42, with enough chill to be declared COLD in the margin of the report. Warmer and sun in the North. As mentioned the bridge is still closed, or again closed, with “No estimate of reopening”. I’m sure the motel, pirates in town and Audie’s restaurant are rollin’ it in.

A couple days ago George posted a photo of the business in Buena Vista, GA. It piqued my curiosity, and triggered my procrastination gene, somI took a virtual trip down to look about on one of those intrepid oligarchs of the evil internet’s street level views. As I came around the corner to the left of the Hardware-funeral-furniture business I noted a rather neat old look to,that end of the building as well:

Here we see a classic Co-Cola, thas how they says it in S. Ga…, and a beautifully weathered 7-up sign the craftsmen weathered to perfection along with the beautifully crafted brickwork. It appears the drug store, soda fountain?, is defunct and “Mike” now has, or when the camera car passed had, a Music business. I had also noticed an old gas station in George’s shot so I ‘drove’ down to get a better look at that:

Good morning, Bruce, Mike and Pete. The sun is in and out over the NH seacoast and temperatures are nearing 50. I've been all over hell this morning, as the dealership didn't tell me which of their several locations (one of which has no street number) my appointment was at. But all's well that gets us home intact. Next, get the modules downstairs and ready to load.

    Mornin' All!

37, headed for 48, and a good possibility of actual sunshine today here in the northern mitten. Intermittent snow showers, possibly some accumulation and so on for the weekend. Thrill a minute....

Karl, Da Bridge is closed again today due to falling ice. Whoopee....

Made some actual progress on the Doodlebug conversion yesterday, then tried to figure out a new coupler arrangement on both ends. Decided that the Kadee 38 might work, as the rear end of the device is relatively small, so I hauled out the remains of a bag and commenced assembly. Had two left.... Life is Good.... Ping... tink!!! [insert Banghead emoticon here] I finally found the large piece on the rug, but spent well over an hour in several increments looking for the small cover plate and the centering spring. They had vaporized. [more Banghead here] Finally decided to try the last one and see if the whole process was going to work, when something metallic glinted at me from the original piece. Turns out that the entire assembly was still intact and that all of the search time down on my aging knees was a waste of time and knees.... [insert several Bangheads here]

So having had a good night's sleep and some good coffee, I'll have to go try again. Make it a great day, All, be positive, test negative, and stay safe!

Good morning. Thanks for opening, Bruce.

It's a cool 43F and overcast here in northern WV. Snow expected this weekend.

I worked on a hill for my layout, cutting out a profile and gluing cardboard strips for the landform. Today I will finish that stage and maybe get to covering it.

I'm also clearing out my side of the garage, taking old scientific journals to the recycling center. I no longer need my library.

    Have a pleasant day.

    Mike

started a topic Friday Morning Lounge

    Friday Morning Lounge

Good morning from S.E. Michigan where it is 35 degrees and heading up to the low 40's under cloudy skies. Breakfast includes Buttermilk Pancakes with Michigan Maple Syrup, fresh strawberries for on top, and plenty of Walschaerts Blend coffee.

Entertainment at the breakfast table this morning included seeing a coyote nab a Fox Squirrel and trot off with its own breakfast. Back in Jersey, we would see similar action with the players being Red Foxes and Grey Squirrels.

I made good progress on the Coal Tipple Yesterday and hope to get back to that project later today.

    What is on your agenda?
Working...
