  • Pics not showing up in older discussions...

I have been reading through the Coastline RR discussions and once I got to volume 3 many of the pics discussed in most threads are not there. Here is an example. https://railroad-line.com/node/21291...199#post445199

Is this my browser or did these pics get lost in the upgrade?

Pete, the problem happened when the software was upgraded.
Syntax of the old and new version was different.
If you modify the image address of the pictures they will show.
Foe example, here's the picture you linked to.

Rick, when I view Troels' post that refers to the picture on that page, I don't see an image URL. Did you navigate down through the source pages to reach it?

I haven't seen any problems with images on my own threads going back to 2007 - I'd uploaded everything to the Snitz forum, and all the URLs got fixed.

James. I right click on the picture and select‘copy image address’. I paste that in the comments box and edit it there.

Rick, when I view that thread there is no evidence that a pic exists... other than the discussion...

That's odd. Pete's link takes me to Troels' post starting "I'm mostly painting/preparing the "water"..." I see two lines of text but there is no URL visible to me. Firefox 97.0.1 on Linux, also Firefox 94.0.1 on FreeBSD.

                Rick, Thank you!

This appears to be a wide spread issue... I am at post #221 on page 15 of that thread and no pic visable although the discussion indicates there is a pic referenced. Any way for me to fix this on my end?

Pete, unfortunately if there is no link there's nothing that can be done.
Can you give me a link to that page and I'll take a look at it.

Ok I may have the answer. I followed PLNT-Line link. The pictures show up. I'm using Windows 10 and Edge as a browser. I then went to the first post on Troll's post. No pictures. I did a quote on one of the posts that has pictures in it. Here's my reasoning why the earlier pictures don't show up. I had the same problem on MRH posting pictures. Take a look at the beginning of the link in the [img] tag. The one's I can't see also start with HTTP:// the newer one start with HTTPS:// The same happened to me. I went to a secure website format. Once I changed all my pictures back so the beginning of the link started with HTTPS:// they showed up. Try changing Troll's picture links to begin with HTTPS:// and see if that works.

Bernd, I just opened the thread again and for me the URL already starts with HTTPS.
Again, could be difference in OS.

                      Pete, I fixed that picture.
You won't be able to edit the picture within Troels' posts.
Only the Admins can do that.
But you can fix the link to the picture, view it and save it to your hard drive if you want.
I'm on an iMac using Safari and what I do might differ from how you'd have to do it based on your os.
Right click on the link or in the case of the last picture, the blue square with a question mark.
On a PC you probably see a red x.
In the drop down I select 'Copy Image Address' and then paste it in the comment dialog box at the bottom of the page.
You should see the link for the picture.
Delete the %20 at the end of that link and add open and close img tags on each end.
Click Preview and you should see the picture.

On Troel's first page if I do a "Quote" of his post and delete the %20, copy the img link and paste in the reply and do a "Preview" I can then see the picture. I even went back and cleared out all the "cookies". On joy. Strange software. Well anyway we have a work around. Thought I had a solution.

                          I think that %20 is a space
