Dave, "local computer store?" Folks around here bought 'Gateway Computers" because they liked the boxes. I like a video card with a large buffer size for updating adds, deletes, part animations etc.with the CAD work. This one will handle the load right now, but I'll be keeping a look out for a high end card. No games on my primary (or secondary) machines.

Good morning. Thanks for the coffee, Jim.

It's 46F and overcast in the Olympic Peninsula. Our son drove up yesterday from Portland so now there's three of us.

Yesterday we got out to walk several easy to intermediate trails. It was a nice cool day for walking up and down hills, and not too muddy. Had lunch in the historic little town of Port Gamble.

We hope to do more of the same today a little farther afield.

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Mike

Good morning Jim and the rest of the crew. It is sunny and we will top out in the upper 40's later today. The snow is almost all gone for now.

Some Christmas shopping is on the agenda for later today.

    Have a great day!

Jim, if you have a local computer store, check with them to see if they might be able to get you a 'trade-in' graphics card from someone who updated his/her computer. Or ask around if there's a local computer club and check with the local high school. I'm presuming you don't need a gaming card for what you're trying to do....

Good morning guys and all in coming crew. A lot of you are up and at it already this morning.

Jim, thirty five cents for a meal item, those days are gone. Thanks for opening the lounge though for our daily chat and cup of brew.

A surprising 53 degrees here in Rhode Island today, and sunny to boot. What are we in for???

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day ahead. See you all on the RR-Line Forum.

Morning crew. Rainy morning here but getting into the 50-degree range.

Looks like a bit of work in the garage to try and finish up my little trailer that's going to have generator mounted on. Then perhaps more work on the engine house. Experimenting on how I want to do the windows.

    Have great day.

Supposed to get close to the 60's here in No. VA and I hope it does so I can get a bit of painting done - got commissioned model to wrap up that I want out of my shop....

Been to the grocery already - another delightful task of the check list. Some puttering about in the office to clear the debris field of getting the next issues of both publications out the door off my desks. So some good shop time today is the reward.

Pretty much have written off my leaf vac/chipper -- seems to have fallen into a black hole at the repair shop and now that it's Dec., they can keep it.

Need to dial up some Blue Oyster Cult in the shop and get some models built!

    TTFN!

Good morning Jim and Crew. Tough night for me as I again got absolutely no sleep last night. Cannot lay in the bed, can’t sit up and sleep in the Cave and my chair. 2 of the last 3 nights have been like this but the 1st night was because I cannot sleep on planes. The only other times this has happene is after one of my surgeries after I got released to home. No drug changes, no real issues to worry about. Just no sleep. I have not had my non medical use Mary Janes since summer. While my doctor for years said to help lessen my pain from my surgeries to smoke a joint every day, there is however no legal medical cannabis allowed in Wisconsin. So yes for years I was an illegal. Terry said this morning she will drive to Rockford, Illinois which is the nearest dispensary to us. Told her thanks but no.

Jim, your not data mining which is why graphic cards are so scare. Glad though you found something. I will take a couple pieces of bacon with some fine water in the plastic bottle.

karl, enjoy the trip to Northern Command

    Enjoy your day

    Mornin' All!

44, h4aded for 44 and grey here in the northern mitten. "Slight chance" of leakage through the grey blanket, which remains firmly anchored in place.

Today's festivities will involve paying bills and perhaps some switch rework, as the diverging stock rails on several are now somehow out of gauge, even though soldered in place and "perfect" when they came off the fixture last week. No evidence of movement on the ties, either. It's a puzzlah....

Make it a great day, All, and stay safe!

[edit]: The "slight chance" seems to be in error, as the leakage is hitting sideways, uphill and hard right now. Somebody goofed....

Good morning, Jim and later arrivals. The NH seacoast is drizzly and above freezing, with 55F expected later. Clearing tomorrow and much colder after sunset. Our overhead wire work at Seashore yesterday achieved the day's stretch goal but there's plenty more to be done. Today will be paperwork, then my stepson's basketball game, with layout work fitted in where possible.

Good morning, Jim and crew. Here in Tidewater, Virginia, we're going to see temps in the 60's. I have some errands to run and yard work (the darn leaves keep falling). I hope to get some time on my switching layout later.

    Have a good day.

started a topic Thursday morning lounge

    Thursday morning lounge

Good morning all, from 48f and clear N.E. Indiana. The coffee urn is READY with Derail blend. The special is a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on rye bread. Some fresh fruit somehow got delivered by mistake.

I ran around yesterday and finally scrounged a video card from a recycle shop. It's old and slow (like me) but at least I don't have to monkey around opening the lounge with a phone touchpad. Coming up with a $.35 (thirty five cents, Lou) menu is tough enough.

Today I'll try to get some drawing in, but the CFO wants curtain rods on the new windows. So it'll be an up and down day.

Nothing else on the waybill for today.

    Have a Super day!

    Jim
