Good morning all from 36f and overcast N.E.Indiana. The coffee urn has signaled READY with GandyDancer blend in the 'to go' cups. The crew van is warmed up, and ready to head over to 'The Greeks' for Sunday brunch.

Another test pattern lurking new 'member' online this morning.

I worked on my Adlake Caboose lamp yesterday out in the shop. Some guy 'gave' me the lamp about 5 years ago, in return for some work I had done on his car. It was in rough shape, and missing 3 lenses. After kicking around in the barn, while finding the correct 5-3/8" Fresnel lenses. A friend found a pair that I needed, and I put those in yesterday. The holding rings have been difficult to find. I made A new set out of carbon fiber on the printer. and they won't rust. Now I need to install a socket and light bulb in the base, and put outside of the shop.

Attic trip to haul down Christmas decorations later today. See you at The Greeks.

Plenty of snow here this morning, all left over from the football fest yesterday, my Spartans slew the Lions, and the A² boys sent the ohio people home sad.

I've a few Adlake switch and caboose lanterns, none finished off for display. Parts for them are usually hard to find, but Adlake is still in business in Elkhart, IN and some parts can be found on their website if you want to look, $$$ for the most parts. Lantern parts can be found there as well.

No big plans here today, snow to move later if I feel like it.

Cold but looking clear out there today; still warm upstairs thanks to the fireplace last night. Egg with ham, onion, mushrooms, and Havarti with hash browns.....and more hot tea. Good to go now...

Desktop of monitor is covered with NMRA articles to edit........got to turn around 1 set of galleys today......waiting for the other to arrive; goes to press in 2 days.....and I'm sitting about patiently..not!

Shop time in between everything else; bring in more firewood......but that's it for today.

33 degrees, partly sunny and possible snow flurries today here in Rhode Island.
I guess I'll put some more time into my vacuum car. It is moving right along.

34, headed for 38 and "unsettled" under the grey blanket here in the northern mitten. Dripping and blowing out there, but the drippery isn't sure whether it's white or clear. Squalls are obscuring vision north and south of me across the Bay. I hope Somebody remembered the winter tires for the crew van, otherwise it could be a "cultural experience" out there. County road trucks were out last night, inaugurating the season before the calendar change, but Mother Nature and Ol' Man Wintah may be ending their "discussion," with the Ol' Guy in charge for awhile....

I need to go do battle with a brand new decoder that my command station says "Can not read CV." No responses at all from this thing, although the blue pilot light is on and the red trouble warnings are not.... Now wondering if this was "fixed" by the mail folks....

Good morning to the entire crew. After our son and family headed to the airport yesterday morning, we quickly headed out to buy our Christmas tree. Snow started falling while we were on the tree lot, so when we got home, I headed out to the garage to drop the mowing deck off the Kubota and install the snowblower and weight bucket. As you can see in the photo, I got done just in the nick of time.

It is still snowing lightly here and we are somewhere between 2" and 3" of the stuff. I will head out later to clear the driveway.

Making a big pot of Turkey Soup is also on the agenda for this afternoon.

Good morning, crew. It's 58F with partial clouds and expected high in the sixties. Rain possible. A nice day so far.

Yesterday our son and partner treated me to a behind the scenes tour of the Columbia Gorge Model Railroad Club. It was fantastic to see and very informative. Later the four of us met friends of our son to a Christmas market in downtown Portland, and walked around various pop up shops.

Today is completely unplanned so far. If the weather holds we will be getting out to walk I'm sure.

I spent most of the afternoon getting increasingly frustrated with SketchUp, finally giving up on the project for my class. It's a good thing I'm not taking that class for credit! I do not understand how people get things done with that program, its "inference" in particular is wrong Much More than it's right and often gets in the way when I'm trying to align things.

If SketchUp had a mode where I could force the default to be 'all on the plane', I would have been done with my project 20 hours ago. Instead, it locates stuff in bizarre locations in 3-space, even though I'm viewing in parallel projection along a given axis. And then I can't force the new item to line up underneath the previous one. (I was trying to draw stairs, not "rocket sciences" by any stretch.)

Dave,
I deleted SketchUp about 3 years ago, and went with a fledgling AutoCad Fusion 360. To me, much more of a draftsman tool, If I wanted 'cute', I would have gone with Maya or Blender. I wasted 6 months 'playing' with SketchUp. If you get to the point of pulling the plug. Check out 3D Gladiator on youtube for his excellent Fusion 360 tutorials.
