  • Saturday morning lounge

Good morning crew, readers, and lurkers.frpm 32 and overcast N.E. Indiana. The coffee urn has signaled READY with Fireman blend. The special is a full stack, Ossian ham, and eggs your way. Inflation has hit the lounge. Breakfast has increased to $.29 from the historic $.25.
Time to revert to Steam Power as hot air seems to be abundant.

Well, modeling yesterday was only a dream. I pre-Stained and then stained the 10 1:1 interior windows after sanding down the wood filler. Note to self: Do not hire an "Amish carpenter" again, or should I say cobbler. Then I switched to replacing the 1/2" drywall panel that he put a 3/8" in place. Explaining his errors is like talking to a concrete block.

I'm off to the train show.

    Have a Super day!

Good morning, Jim and crew;. It's the club's fall open house weekend. I'm leaving shortly for the traditional pre-event breakfast.

It's sunny and the temps will be in the 50's in Tidewater Virginia. We prefer rain for open house weekends - it helps attendance.

    Have a good day.

Sunny and colder here today. Everything bagel with leftover cheese steak filling and more good hot tea. Nothing on the schedule today other than a run over to the library to drop of 5 and pick up 10 books. Maybe some lawn raking......

Shop time - got to get some stuff done and off the bench!! -- and office fiddling about with articles, etc.

Maybe a good day to watch a bit of the oblate spheroid stuff and enjoy a cold adult beverage, too.

Haven't figured out what project I'll work on today.

Stay warm and have a safe day.

Cold, 20s, and grey. Football is at noon. The South Ohio walnuts may be a tough nut to crack.

Good morning guys and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening the lounge Jim, and enjoy your day at the train show.

It's 37 degrees and sunny here in Rhode Island today. Not sure what my day will bring. Tine will tell.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day ahead. See you all on the Forum.

            Mornin' All!

38, headed for 45, with the grey blanket firmly tucked in all around. This might be a good idea, as "they" have posted small craft warnings and a gale watch for the weekend's festivities here. Good day to stay in and work on the railroad. We have a Division meeting here starting at 1000 via Zoom, so that should provide an interesting diversion from doom and gloom. Looking forward to it, too!

Last night I managed to get an ancient E-7 rolling again. Sound worked well, but had no motor response. Soldered joints by the pros who installed the sound years ago were all good, so I began looking at the motor and gearing. Got the white frosting out of the gears, lubed the bearings and the gears, and almost had it. Open frame motor, so I looked at the innards, decided that removing the carbon deposits from the motor might be a good idea, and it turns out that it was indeed a "dang fine idea," as the late Mike Chambers used to observe. Removed a staggering amount of gunk from in there, and behold!! The thing works! Now I need to go call a crew, reassemble the shell, check the couplers and so on, then put it to work.

Make it a great day, All, and stay safe!

It does indeed sound like an interesting day on the big lakes. Should present with some mighty interesting photos of the waves crashing over the projections out onto the lakes, fools were out surfing at Grand Haven yesterday. I need another blanket just thinking about it!

Good morning crew. It's a cloudy 47F by the ocean in Lincoln City, OR, with forecasts of sunny skies and low fifties by mid day.

No modeling today. We will be walking on the sand enjoying the ocean, and hanging out in the hot tub.

              Have a great day everyone.

Karl, a tough nut alright. 8:39am here and I decided after reading the Crew Lounge to check on the game. 2 minutes left in the 3rd and the score is not in Michigan State’s favor. I presume by now you have turned the TV off.

                      Good evening folks

Just getting a chance to sit down in front of the computer. Thanks for the well wishes. Went over to visit the wife. She is more alert and active. However, we are still not out of the woods. They found a second clot. This one in her leg. She is also very anemic. This morning they gave her a blood transfusion and are giving her iron. Her breathing is better, but she has to take a noticeable breath before she talks. For now, we are staying the course of blood thinners with frequent blood tests. We are hopeful she will be home for Thanksgiving.

In the effort to maintain my sanity my daughter and I put away the outside furniture. Tomorrow we are going to impress her boy friend into helping to move the potted plants to their winter home in the attic.

I attached the track to the glued roadbed last night and a little bit ago reattached it to the rest of the layout. I successfully ran several trains over the section. One issue I am having is some locos stalling going through the switches. I am using Atlas switches and I know they have insulated frogs. I am also running DC. I been researching solutions but have come to the conclusion that electrical wiring is a field I will never grasp. All I have done is to frustrate myself. At times I which someone could come over and show me how to do it.

I did change out the plastic couplers on six Bowser hoppers last night. I have a bunch more to go. Some need metal wheels along with the couplers.

I am going to head back downstairs trying to keep busy and the mind from thinking too much.

I hope everybody has a good evening.
