    The roof is looking good so far! The mill build looks to be another great build. Thanks for the Inkra ruler post too, I've got to get one!

        Scott - That ruler has many uses and I suspect more than I currently know.

        Ray - I saved your webpage again last night for reference on some future modeling. My computer crashed a bit ago and I lost it.

                Looking great Rich! What type of shingles are you planning?
                I like the incra tool. Here is another tool useful for laying out spacing on railings with spindles/etc.

                  That is an excellent question, one that I have been contemplating for a while.
                  If I were to use the same Campbells singles on the roof, it would be too "busy"

                  I previously put on a layer of Campbells shingles over the entire exterior of the building. After looking at my finished product, I was not happy with the results.
                  My thought turned to using Bar Mills shingles on the exterior, and (individual) cedar wood shakes on the roof. If I were to put moss on the roof, like in the following picture,

                  then the nice cedar shingles would be covered up mostly. So, I have been stumped on what I want to use to make it look good and to build it as close as I can to the

                    Forget the moss! Do weathered shingles. If it's going to fit in with the other buildings!

                        Rich, go with the cedar shingles, weather them a bit. Then get the finest 'static grass you can find' and lightly static grass the roof.

                      I agree that you want some contrast between walls and roof without looking too busy.

                      Both BEST and Minuteman make stick-on shingles. They cost more than the Campbell shingles but I find them easier to use. I think they are better than the Bar Mills shingles.

                      I've used them all.

                            Thank you Jerry and Mike, but I was referring to shingles for the exterior building walls, using the Bar Mills shingles.

                            Bob, Thanks for following and for your kind words regarding me as a modeler. I had to reread that several times and pinch
                            myself to make sure what I was actually reading.

                            In regards to updating this build, I'm sorry but it will have to be sometime next week before I can get back to this.
                            We have had a flood of errands to run and appointments, for the family, not us in particular, but Iit's also the Christmas
                            running around errands as I am sure you all have to do.
