  • MDC Climax...Scratch/Bash build info

First up..Thank's to Lou for his help regarding procedure...i had a look at his bash before doing mine. Also i don't know how to post pictures and move them around and i don't know how to delete Duh! HA! The build was a dummy kit not a motor kit. A friend had it laying around and had no use for it. The drive is a Bachman 44 ton...i wish i could get gears...i found enough to get her up and running. As you can see the Bachmann 44 ton body slips in nice. There is a void between the Climax shell and Bachman cut down shell fit all the way around inside. 1/4 ounce mag weights fit perfect in this void, two at front two at back, on the sides. The wood pile cut off and i made an oil bunker and added a few brass details. The boiler cut down like Lou did, nicer appearance .A new window frame built for the change. Few more brass details added plus 0402 LEDS for rear and back lamp...i also used a couple lamps from my Rivarossi parts bin. The lighting is great. Back and front i used a couple of MDC Shay pilots, fit like a glove. The Kadee fit was a blessing. She runs very nice..i just hope the gears last for me on axles. Airbrushed Scalecoat Loco Black ,added decals and finished with Tamiya flat coat .Weathering , i use Bragdon weathering pigments. The Climax has a TCS M series decoder in it. Thats about it group .Hope you like it. Plenty of time and thinking went into the build.

    Steve~,
Wow, this is a very cool build! I really like how you look at everything as a piece and a part. I like how you gave new life to two or older models and combine them into a reliable new one. Great job on this build I give it two thumbs up. This made my day brother.
    Thanx Thom...
