    • Hello from NYC, a place I dislike as I eat my $18 breakfast of yogurt and granola plus tip! Hopefully I am out of here by noon. The attorneys are due here at 10am. This trip has been delayed many times during the Covid reign but I am here now. Long story but let’s say, we are here for blood now.

Waiting to hear from Pathology for the brothers g/f and that is a good sign. If the mass was malignant they would know already and her doctor was very encouraged yesterday after surgery.

Rick, actually the trip is shorter by dropping the Gulf coast stops and the Winter Haven, Florida stops. I still have to get to Arlington, Virginia but lawyers seem to work on their own schedule and not the people’s schedule they work for. Very happy with the Texas adventures and while the horse trip buying was not planned it was a known possibility to me and it was fine. Terry is happy she got a great deal, the son got more time in his flying machine while mom and dad paid his expenses.

Karl, I know I answered your question about comparing the horses to the rolling stock but the transportation is the real expense for the 6 she purchased. I generally stay away from being involved in her purchases but this buying trip was a definite eye opener. While she never complains or rarely comments on what my train purchases total, she can never say anything now. All horses for now will be heading to Wisconsin.

      Enjoy your day

      • Good morning Rick, Mike, Tom, Karl, Jerry, Tom and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

        Rick, thanks for the coffee.

Larry, the convention is an online one. At the time we agreed to do this there were still Covid restrictions in place, with no end date known. We now know that on April 21, 2022 all Covid restrictions will be ended.

Mike, have fun with the grandson today.

Spent a little time at the bench last night and made the door for the outhouse, hopefully will hang it tonight and that will complete the outhouse except for the roof.

        Nice haul Tom.

        Have a great day everyone.

        • Good morning gents, and all incoming crew. Thanks for the chat and cup of brew.

51 and cloudy here in Rhode Island today. Rain expected this afternoon.

Was out early this morning for an oil change, found a cracked windshield washer motor cracked leaking fluid. An oil changed turned into over a $300.00 bill. Who ever herd of a $230.00 water pump?

No bench time yesterday or today I guess. Just not into the mood.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day ahead. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

          • Morning Gents,

Rick thanks for the coffee. The time spent on getting the house ready will be well worth the effort in
the end. I spent a week's vacation getting my Dad's house ready to sell; when it went on the market it
sold in 2 days....now too shabby. Websites can be tricky after someone passes away and can be a lot of
red tape; as is anything that has to deal with Lawyers and laws.

Mike glad you're feeling better; suddenly going "horizontal" at our age is never a good thing. Have fun with the family.

Tom nice modeling purchase and have fun in NYC; it'll be over soon.

Karl that water looks just plain cold; good time for the "polar club" to go for a dip.

Jerry the delay on the Honda part is just wrong; hope it gets resolved soon. Hope to get to the bench
and careful....don't clean too much or you'll won't be able to find anything afterwards.

Ron hope the "virtual show" goes well and has lots of views. I read about April 21st although around here the only
restrictions left are in the Medical field; which fits right in with all the BS.

Louis that's pricey but at least you were able to get the part. A few years ago my Daughter needed new tires and all new
lug nuts to hold them on.....that particular lug nut was $20 EACH....you wanna talk about a rip off.

The rest of the Crew have a great day.

A very rainy 46 with a high of 50 here in New York. Over slept this morning so I feel like I'm behind schedule....so says the
retired guy.....so not sure what the day will bring. Work does continue on the mini scene so maybe some bench time later.

Enjoy your day and stay dry. Be healthy and safe.

            • Larry mentioned lug nuts, currently a high percentage of them are fancy shiny aluminum over steel and they corrode and swell and won’t fit your wrench. Mfgs all know it and won’t replace them. At the Chrysler/Dodge shop my son worked at they put locking nuts on one lug per wheel. He kept a drawers full of the ones they had taken off. Had a side hustle going and sold them at half dealer rate to customers if they came in with swollen nuts.

Happened to me with a Ford Escape, among other cheap as crap stuff.

              • Good morning everyone.

Coffee, hot water for tea and an assortment of cold sodas are ready for your enjoyment.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.

                Ron, how about the roof?

Tom, hope you successfully escaped from NY.

Karl, I think you know where my juvenile sense of humor went when I read your last post.

Mike, sounds like you had a fun and delicious day.

Louis, at least they had it in stock.

Larry, I agree with you about the website hassles and going to his site now and downloading all that you want is the way to go.

                Carpet and drywall are done.
The drywall will require some sanding (they couldn't do you yesterday because it hadn't dried yet) and then a coat of paint.
Todays task will be to bring one bedroom from upstairs down and the bedroom in the basement up.
Will also try and get the back porch ready.

                Have a great day everyone.

51 and cloudy here in Rhode Island today. Rain expected to clear up by this afternoon.

Rick, glad things are getting along with the house. Always a long process.

Rick, they did have to call around quite a few places before finding the washer pump I needed. So I guess you are right with the thinking I was lucky to find one in stock. What ever happened to the junk yard days of getting any replacement part?

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day ahead. I'll see you all on the RR-L Forum.

                  • Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee. I think both our minds went to the same place with Karl's last post.
I agree about the website so I now have five different modelers folders with their photos which
                    are of interest to me.

Louis I don't think mechanics even think about junk yards for parts anymore....no profit in it.

The rest of the Crew hope all's well in your world.

A cloudy 45 with a high of 51 here in New York. Rained the entire day yesterday so hopefully
it won't for a bit. Have a contractor working on the house Monday thru Wednesday outside so
I hope he doesn't get rained out. The mini scene is coming right along and hope to have it
                    finished today less extra details.

Hope everyone has a great day. Keep being on the mend and be well!!

Sounds like you have the house almost ready for the sale.

Weather in South Jersey finally sunshine/61 today!
                      Big question can it last...

Karl that is just so funny!!

Louis you were lucky we are waiting 4 weeks for a Master Cylinder for a HONDA!

Tom, Larry, Philip, Ron what do you have planned for the day??

                      Everyone have a great day!!

                        Rick, thanks for the coffee.

Not sure how I am going to do the roof as my options are very limited with what I have on hand (couldn't bring everything with me). I'm thinking my best option at this time is to use tissue to make a tar paper roof.

Jerry, not sure what is planned for the day, besides work. Will see how I feel tonight.

Louis, look on the bright side, you be like Jerry who is still waiting for his car part.

                        • Hi all from the state of De Aja Vu, same ole **** all over again. Yesterday’s chill and rain yielded to a brief sunny spell before sunset and this morning we’ve awakened to another morning of cold and wet

Lou, I’d imagine that somewhere along the line someone put some washer fluid in your system that didn’t have enough antifreeze. I erroneously bought some once that looked like the same ole blue stuff then saw it was only rated to like 300 or so, not -20/-300 that ‘winter’ stuff is. Prior to that I thought it was all the same. I think the ‘summer’ stuff has more bug cleaning jizz in it. Damn cars, if it ain’t swollen nuts is split whizzes… Junkyard parts? Totally DIY stuff. By the time Herman the Wrench goes over to Quinn’s finds the same make and model car, goes out in the muddy yard and gets the old, who knows if it works, part, pulls it off and brings it back to his shop only to find out that the mfg had a mid year electrical plug change you see why they get on the phone to NAPA or they warehouse for a new one.

Well, I’ve already had my daily axx chewing….better get off the evil internet…

Karl you may be right that it was the cause for cracking. Nothing else makes sense.
Also, Karl, FYI our neighboring state of Massachusetts fired 11 Mass State Troopers for failing to follow an order to get the Covid Vaccine shots after a Court ruling.

                        • Good morning. I am in the air somewhere over Ohio. Yesterday could have gone better in NYC. A 2 hour thing lasted for 6 and I missed my plane. I was actually able to hitch a ride into Wisconsin at 1/2 of what yesterdays ride would have cost but for this morning.

No modeling plans when I land in Wisconsin where the daughter says the grass has an inch of snow on it. Grocery shopping will be the order of the day.

I am sure I will head into the train room but already have been asked to swim with the grandkids for a couple hours as the daughter and hubby want to head out for a quiet dinner.

                          Njoy the day

Coffee, hot water for tea and an assortment of cold sodas are ready for your enjoyment.

Scattered showers before noon, then scattered showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57.

Tom, I'm sure you're happy to be back home and maybe you can make it to the train room today.

Karl, is the weather improving up north?

Ron, McLaren had a good day qualifying yesterday.

Jerry, spoke to the realtor yesterday and an open house will be scheduled for the 21'st.
Could have done next weekend but it's Easter.

Larry, nice work on your details.

                            Louis, any bench time lately?

Got the upstairs bedroom down without a problem.
Neighbor is coming over this morning to help bring the other bedroom uo from the basement.
Also got the back porch cleaned up.
Managed to get a haircut, smoke a cigar and had dinner with friends last night.
Was hoping to do some outside painting today but I don't think the weather ill co-operate.
Not a problem since I have some painting to do downstairs.
Oh yea, back to The Dinky today.
                            Will be a short week.
                            Vacation week starts on Monday.

                            • Another shade of dull this morning in lower MI, 310 and it's lightly snowing, were it rain one might call it mist. Going to stay cold all day. The snow dust/mist to end by later...

Weather up North continues to be troublesome. The Doll had a call from Bob the builder who reports still snow and water all over, the creeks really full. The deer he's been feeding are so hungry and cunning, they're going right into his barn and eating the alfalfa he has, saves him going out. He reiterated Danny's advise that it's no place up there for -expletive- Trolls! He's itching to get out fishing.

Spent a bit yesterday photographing and making up a listing for a 12 car set of Walthers DM&IR "Michigan" ore cars and listed them on eBay with a Buy it Now price, time stamp on my listing e-mail was ~8:15pm, the 10:15pm e-mail said it sold to a buyer from Minnesota at 7:45pm, MN is in Central time zone. Looks like it was gone in 30 minutes...the Doll said, must have had the price too low...I did check SOLD history and my price was on the low side of prior sales, but not much. I paid $60 less than sold, so am happy. Off to see the Postal wench this morning. There are 4 small PO within a short drive. Each has only partial day hours, different from the others. Only one hour on Sat and each is wildly different. No wonder the outfit is fubar at times. Actually I have to take the curmudgeon hat off. The eBay stuff I've done since Jan 1 has all been handled in decent time. Fingers crossed and wood knocked to hopefully keep the streak going.

The Doll is being visited by a daughter and grand daughter today and they're venturing out to GrRapids shopping. I may bet another eBay auction set. I have a 4 car set of B&LE ore cars to get out of my storage.

TomO, sounds like quite the adventure this week. Enjoy a day or so of chill time.

Rick, have a Dinky Day. Larry, Philip and all, be well. Hi Lou, and Mike et al.
