  • Good late evening from So. Central Wisconsin where the temperature is rising.
Click image for larger version Name:	778A7B49-107C-4086-9F8E-379E5391D818.jpeg Views:	0 Size:	105.5 KB ID:	982905 That is the highest temperature we have had for a few days and the highest wind chill reading since last Friday. Unfortunately it is only a 1-2 day break as it gets frigid late afternoon Friday for the whole weekend.

Thanks guys for the well wishes on my lack of sleep issues. It will get better. I just am not there yet. I saw a Behavior Health Specialist this morning and it was interesting. Going try some mental exercises to cope. Again, I was told 70%+ of American adults have sleep issues multiple time per week. She said it has gotten worse as Covid draws on.

Les, I usually am not intimidated by technology but 3D printing does. Good for you and others that I see creating such wonderful drawings and then producing it.

I did toss some logs on the fire. There is again a full stack outside on the deck so the fireplace can be kept well fed. The bar and its contents are available but sometimes it is just nice to relax in front of green fireplace

    Back to modeling tomorrow.

    • Good morning everyone.

Coffee, hot water for tea and an assortment of cold sodas are ready for your enjoyment.

Sunny, with a high near 33.
      Only 9 currently.

Mike, happy you had an enjoyable time with your son.

      Jerry, more doors yesterday?

Karl, how's the engineering and machining coming along?

Louis, congrats on finishing your project.

Ron, I'll have to check if you posted pics of the finished car.

Larry, first computer was a PC and switched to an iMac.
Much happier in the Apple sphere.

Les, I didn't know window glass could be printed.
Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Philip, congrats on your printing solution.

Tom, thanks for keeping the place warm and I've tossed on more logs to keep it warm for the rest of the crew.

Grocery shopping first thing this morning.
      Yje usual house chores next.
At some point in the after a cigar will be enjoyed.
Mom might come home today or go to rehab.
Drums are being beat louder in an effort to create winter storm mania.

      Have a great day everyone.

      • Good morning Rick and all incoming crew. Thanks for opening up the lounge this morning Rick, nothing better than to start the day with a chat and cup of brew.

12 degrees, sunny but very cold today here in Rhode Island. They keep talking about a snow storm this Saturday. We'll see.
Rick, you know how that goes, the old get milk bread and eggs quickly.

Well I finished my 2022 Challenge, so not sure what I'll tackle on now. I guess I could clean-up the bench area and get it back to finding thnigs.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day ahead. See you all on the RR-L Forum.

        • Cold and grey again in my slice of Mich but in the teens so not as cold, except.....the 15-25 mph winds make it just as bad.

Rick, zero done on the tender project. Wasn't kidding, no skills or tools to do it and plenty else to use my time on. I will admit some thought given to it but pretty well flumoxed at this point, however you spell that.

Just heard a forecast for the East coast. Anyone going to the big train looks brutal, so cold in Florida they have an Iquana alert they might freeze and fall on your heads...they'd find a way to call it covid if it killed you.

Heading off to breakfast, everyone be well.

            Yup you got that right!!!

        • Good Morning,

Tom thanks for keeping the place warm and enjoy the break from the frigid weather.
Hoping your extra effort will produce some quality sleep.

Rick thanks for the coffee. I switched over to a Mac back in 2015 and was very happy
with my new found friend. Still have to deal with Windows for the Mrs but at least her
'puters were built by me so I know what hardware works best with the big W.

Louis good luck figuring out the new adventure; I'm sure it will be unique.

The rest of the Crew hope you're all doing well.

It's a chilly -4 this am with a high of 28 here in New York. Only have to get through Feb. then
hopefully the arctic temps will be behind us. Since the snow blower decided not to start yesterday
          I broke out the shovel to clear the driveway. When it warms up later today I'll try and get it started;
it's not that old. After freezing my "whats it's" yesterday I managed to get 55 - 8 inch scale 1x8's
grained. Hopefully today I can start coloring some of them. I did download Brett's colored photos
from his site to use as a reference; not going to try and duplicate his exactly.

Keep warm, be well, and have an enjoyable day.

          • Good morning from warming So. Central Wisconsin. We may hit the 30’s today but we are above 0 on the wind chill for the 1st time in 10 days.

7.5 hours sleep last night. 3 hours in the love seat and 4.5 in bed, plus I slept during the second period of the Hawks/Red Wing hockey game. Just saying!

Rick thanks for opening and I will have a diet Nope a Sugarless A&W root beer as the caffeine drinks are missing.

The wife says we are getting out while the weather is nice. A shopping trip and lunch out but 1 hour north of us in the Wisconsin Dells. Trains later.

Weather in South Jersey sunny/15. Later 32!
Weenies are at i again. I'm sure they get a kick back from the grocery stores!!

Larry good luck with the coloring and stay with the manuel all will be fine.

            Louis what's next?

Here's a picture of one of the doors. Please no atta boys! Either you like it or you don't.
It's a real close up it isn't that bad to the naked eye.
Personally I like it but that's just me.

            Everyone have a great day!!

I like it!!! So no "attaboy" from me.

          • Good afternoon Rick, Louis, Karl, Larry, Tom, Jerry and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

I have a Macbook Pro that I love. I bought a new one last year, not because the last one broke, I just couldn't update it to the latest operating system anymore. The last one I bought was in 2012 and the MRS is presently using that now. I use a windows laptop at work, but only because I have to.

Rom, sounds like you finally got a good nights sleep.

Larry, have fun with the staining process.

Jerry, only one door? that's it?????

Presently 35F and sunny right now, much better than the 17F I woke up to this morning. Supposed to get warmer next week.

            Have a great day everyone.

            • Good Afternoon Guys,
Thursday morning is a work day for me, just keeping my hand in the business a bit. Cold here, I think it was 15 this morning when I headed out. Thursday afternoons I am usually modeling and printing on something or many things. My wife (ann) is a decorative painter, so she paints on Zoom with 9 or 10 of her friends, they get together and paint and chat. She also teaches via Zoom too. This afternoon I am fixing a part for a friend so he can print it.... if you teach a man to print... the saying goes. Well he had a HO scale smoke stack with no detail, okay for who he was printing it for, but wanted more so I said I would fix it. well here it is.

Here is the smoke stack before...these are setup for printing

              and the enhanced version

And I am also working on Scanned figure...yeah I scan my friends so they can ride and work on our trains too. It is another story.

I will be cleaning this figure up, added boots, and sculpting in detail, then printing.

You all have a good day, be safe too. Les

              • Howdy You'all,

                Rick, thanks for coffee.

Les, your 3D modeling continues to impress and depress me . Scanning the figures is incredible, what device do you use? Nice job.

Ron, hope the weather improves up there.

Jerry, since I can't give you an attaboy, I'll just say the door looks real, but leaves me wondering how many more you have to build?

Tom, wow, 7.5 hours of sleep is a lot. Hope you keep sleeping.

Larry, what do you use to press grain into your wood?

                Karl, hilarious, iguana alert? LOL

Louis, congratulations for finishing the 2022 challenge.

Its warmer here today, high in 50's. Sunny, too. I read about the nasty weather heading to the north east. Good luck! I use PC's. I heard using those MAC's would lead to COVID susceptibility...

Received the final closing date on the new place, February 28th. Moved closer a couple of weeks. Yay!

                Have fun and stay warm,

I've tried wire/brass brushes which didn't do much so I take my modeling saw and drag it down the length of the boards. Does a pretty good job.

              • Larry do not use brass brushes! You need the kind plumbers or electrician use!!

                • Good morning Crew as I have tossed a few more logs on the fire. Keeping the place warm till Rick gets in. It is 12f degrees in South Central Wisconsin. A nice day as we did get into the 30’s but the wind chill stayed in the teens. Even the weather guy said he was confused that the wind chill was so cool. Teens is a lot better then the minus 0 and the colder readings we were getting.

I have been ignoring the news and on one of my feeds I read I have blocked out news reports, Covid, military build ups and entertainment (to someone else, not me) reports. I am so tired of see headlines about Pete, Kim and Kanye. Found out over the past weekend I could block that stuff.

Trains, I had the wheel tuner out today and did 50 trucks and weathered them. 4 hours at the bench. Terry popped in and asked, “don’t you run trains anymore?” Yes but with sound down low. Too much distortion. I received 2 Scale Sound Systems speakers today. Will install tomorrow. Then Terry will know I’m running again, I hope.

Heading to bed, yep the bed to try to sleep. Not going to stay on the love seat. Made great progress sleeping yesterday and maybe a touch more tonight.

                  Enjoy your day

                  • Good morning everyone.

Coffee, hot water for tea and an assortment of cold sodas are ready for your enjoyment.

A chance of s@#! before 4pm, then rain likely, possibly mixed with s$#@. Cloudy, with a high near 36.
The real fun starts tonight when it starts to s#@! hard.
                    We're predicted to get between 6" - 10".
I think Jerry will get a lot more.

Jerry, how's a high five instead.

Larry, get yourself one of these from Home Cheapo to grain strip wood.
                    It's in the plumbing section.

Karl, put the tender away for a bit and you'll come up with a solution in a few days.
I remember there being a number of s%@# storms on the weekend on the Springfield show.

Louis, I was surprised the grocery wasn't busier when I went there yesterday.

Ron, any boxcar work last night?

Les, scanning your friends and printing them is way cool.

                    Mike, no Covid here.

Tom, bench and hobby time is much better than TV time.
                    Hope you're sleeping well.

                    Philip, good morning.

More logs on the fire to keep the lounge nice and warm.
                    Mom's in rehab now.
Brought her clothes and got to visit with her in her room.
She needs a few more things and I'll do that right after I'm done here.
Meal prep when I get home.

                    Have a great day everyone.

                    • Morning everyone

Rick thanks for opening and the coffee.

Weather in South Jersey cloudy/28. Later 36.
Yes the white stuff will appear sometime late today into tomorrow.
                      Prediction 8 to 12!!

Eye Dr. this morning routine checkup.

Two doors done one to go should have it done today.
Then I'll start my thread or the adventures of the Cripple Creek RR.

                      Everyone have a great day!!

                      • Good morning guys and all in coming crew. Thanks for the chat and cup of brew, best way to start the day.

Rick, good suggestion for a wire brush.

27 degrees and cloudy here in Rhode Island today. Still talk of the snow storm coming in this evening through tomorrow. Possible 1-2 feet of snow. Nor Easter as they call it. We will see.

Everyone have a great, safe and healthy day ahead. See you all on the RR-L Forum.
