    • Good morning everyone.

Coffee, hot water for tea and an assortment of cold sodas are ready for your enjoyment.

Patchy drizzle with a chance of rain before 9am, then a chance of rain, mainly between 9am and 1pm. Areas of fog before noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 51.

Louis, any luck bending the leg?

Jerry, looking forward to getting together again.

Mike, always good to learn new words.
      You had me Googleing again.

      Karl, glad you felt better
Nice job on the weather puns.

.Ron, you've got me hooked on F! and look forward to the upcoming season.

Larry, ballasting was always one of my least favorite thing to do on a layout.

Philip, hope the skies have cleared considerably.

Tom messaged me about taking a break from the internet and getting his sleep issues resolved.
Wanted to put that out there so all know why he won't be posting for a while.

Grocery shopping and then a few chores before my company shows up.
Jerry and Diane are coming over at noon.
Going out for lunch and then back to my place for coffee and dessert.
The dog can't wait to see Jerry again.

      Have a great day everyone.
Follow along as my dog and I travel the country in our van.

      • Good morning,

Rick, thanks for coffee. You are up early for a weekend day.

Sounds like just about everyone made it to the bench. Looking forward to pictures.

It rained all night and will rain all day. Temps are decent at 63F headed to 70F this afternoon. Freezing temperatures roll in Sunday night. Brrr.

Nothing new on the real estate front. Last ight, our Daughter made pumpkin stuffed ravioli with gorgonzola cheese sauce. Living large! No plans for today. The daughter and SIL leave for camping today. Not good hiking weather, so guess they will stay in the RV most of the time. I suspect they need a break from parent sitting.

        Have fun and stay safe,
        mike

        • Good morning Rick, Mike and the rest of the crew that shows up later.

RIck, thanks for the coffee and enjoy your lunch with Jerry & Diane. Maybe I can make arrangements to see Jerry when I am in VA, he still owes me a beer

Understand about Tom, his health is the most important thing, hope it gets resolved soon.

Was 23F and overcast when I went on my walk with Gracie this morning.

I did manage to get some work done at the bench yesterday, will post pictures later today.

          Have a great day everyone.

Jerry, got to get used to looking for PM again :-) seen and answered.

          • 27 in Michigan this morning with a bright overcast yielding to some sunlight later per the folks at the NWS, aka the Not Weely Sure, with a pause leading up to a build up, drumroll please, to a Major Event set to occur by New Years Day. Snow in the could be range of 4-6 inches.

The visit to the Doll's brother and sis-in-law's went fine. No controversial subjects were broached and the Doll enjoyed seeing them. She gave us a loaf of home baked gingerbread with cranberries that is great.

Back at the cleanup, superfund site is dwindling but hardly looks like it yet.

Everyone have a fine day. Safe and warm.

            • Morning Gents,

Rick thanks for the coffee as usual and enjoy your visit with Jerry & Diane. Ballasting isn't
my favorite job either but has to be done; not that's it's difficult....it's just boring. Thanks
for letting us know about Tom; once he gets his sleep issues taken care of we'll still be here.

Mike enjoy your day no matter what you decide to do and hope you hear something
              on the house soon.

Ron looking forward to some photos of your project. I've often wondered why the U.S.
is the only country that doesn't use the metric scale; it would make talking with others from
              around the world easier.

The rest of the Crew have a great day and safe travels.

A cloudy 36 this morning with a high of 43 here in New York. Hoping by the end of today 95%
of the layout will be ballasted; the only track left will be the wood-coal business track which
I'm waiting on until I figure out that complex and scenery.

Have an enjoyable day and be well!!!!

              • Morning! Busy forum today!
Makes the coffee better! Thanks Rick!

On the subject of ballast I was repairing my modules and learned a lesson . Remove old ballast and don't add new glue on top of old. I can best describe the results as horrific.
Looks like crap. Tear out follows as time permits. I guess my mixture of elmer and water was a bit strong

Have fun today Rick and Jerry. I'm sure Diana will like the Chugga chuga dork stuff

Mike, Parent sitting...good en! What comes around goes around!

I'm sitting here figuring what to do this fine overcast day.............

                Later!

                • From a Detroit on-line news outlet:

White Christmas delayed by Supply Chain Issues, may appear by News Year Day
                  • The first significant snowfall of winter is expected over the weekend, as rain turns to snow late Saturday night. The Detroit area could get around three inches, with areas farther north accumulating half a foot or more.
Fox 2 Detroit and others are sounding the alert for weekend travelers:
New Year's Day will be wet at times, but not a total washout, and we'll change over to snow later on Saturday into the night and the snow will continue into Sunday morning.
...We will turn sharply colder behind the weekend system with temperatures in the 20s and teens Sunday and Monday.

Meteorologists warn that these are predictions, so confine your betting to New Year's football games. But make sure your boots are nearby and a windshield scraper in your car.

                  • Haven't posted for a while. Everything is fine here and nothing seem to change in the lounge. Everyone still hates winter and snow except me.

We have been busy here. There is a small Mom and Pop type market here at the old folks home that is staffed by all volunteers. Last winter the manager also a volunteer had to retire due to health reasons. My wife accepted the position and I said I would help where I could. That means every morning around 7 we hit the markets buying stock, then back to her market, price then stock the shelves. Usually takes about 2 hours. She will spend around $1,000 a week. It would be a lot more fun if we went to Home Depot every morning. I also volunteer delivering packages 3-4 days a week and working on the club train layout. Sometimes I wonder why I retired. Bricklaying was easier.

Still getting some work done on my layout, another picture later.

Roland good thing you're retired or you wouldn't be able to find time to do all that stuff.

                  • Good morning everyone.

Coffee, hot water for tea and an assortment of cold sodas are ready for your enjoyment.

Widespread dense fog, mainly before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 55.

Roland, nice to see you here in the lounge and glad that all is well.
Don't be such a stranger but seeing all the things you're involved with, I can see how you don't have much time left over for posting here.

Karl, 3 to 6 inches doesn't sound like a significant s@#$ total, especially for where you live.
But I guess thy need to sensationalize everything to increase clicks.
Looks like your college team did well yesterday.

Philip, there wasn't much dork stuff discussed.

Jerry, got your email and he sent me an email as well.

Ron, if you still haven't found anything to take to Va, I've got some of the SierraWest work train cars I'm selling.

Mike, I'm usually up by 4.
Then again, I'm usually in bed by 9.

Larry, I checked in on your ballast work.
                    It looks very good.
Only suggestion would be to put down the ground cover first and then ballast.

Had a wonderful afternoon with Diane and Jerry.
Went to lunch at a place down the street from me. ( I shoulda got a burger)
Afterwords came back to my house where the dog got to say hello in her own highly excited way.
Had some coffee and cakes and more good conversation.
Jerry got to leave with an arm full of things I won't be using any longer.

                    Meal prep this morning.
Haven't had a cigar break yet so that will have to happen.
A visit with Mom at some point too.

                    Have a great day everyone.

                    • Morning !
                      Thanks for the coffee Rick.
Never discuss chuga chuga dork stuff around women...how much did you pay for that?

Scrambled eggs/bacon/ toast /ready! Fire is stoked!

Something I never noticed in this forum is the optional, "Ignore List".
                      To get to it:
                      1. Go to your user name in the top right corner of any page and click it.
                      2. A pop-down screen appears. Click "User settings" The User Setting page will open. Click "Accounts" to the right of profile.
                      3. Scroll down to the bottom. It will say "Ignore list" Enter name or names here.
                      4. Click "Save Changes" to complete function.
                      5. To remove users from the ignore list, click the "x" button.

Now if I could enter the tax man/electric/gas/water/cable/insurance companies to the list I would!

Received my order from Tichy~ in high cotton now! Hunkering down in On30.
Waiting on the yankee dabbler. Wheels /couplers..

                      Have a nice day!

Diane took half of hers home and Rick wanted more to eat!
Back to his place for crumb cake & chocolate cake with coffee.
And then topped off with a Old Forester 1920 Prohibition drink of bourbon!

                        • Good Morning,

Rick thanks for the coffee and enjoy your visit with Mom as well as the ceegar. Thanks for the compliment
on the ballast. Sadly that type of work is almost done but I may try your suggestion on the last track.
I usually blend the scenery material into the ballast like I've done on the layout so far.

Philip thanks for breakfast; you can never go wrong with bacon and eggs. Sounds like your going to be
busy at the bench for awhile. Yup I never discuss how much I spend on RR stuff with the Wife!! Like the idea
                          of the "ignore" list".

Jerry glad you and Diane had such a nice time at Rick's place. Good conversation, good food, good drink, and stuff for
the train room.....can't go wrong with that.

Hope the rest of the Crew has a great New Years.

A cloudy 37 this morning with high of 48 here in New York. Not much going on here but maybe diner out tonight.
Hope to get to the bench at some point to start on the interior store details.

Happy New Year to everyone and let's hope 2022 is a better year for all of us. Be Well!!!
