  • Thanks for the comments Jerry, Mike, Scott and Mike.

Jerry & Mike H, I used to store the detail parts in photo boxes, but it became a treasure hunt whenever I want to find something. All my detail parts are stored in the storage containers like the one above. They are sorted by type, ie. passenger car parts, windows, doors etc. and labeled, now when I need to find something I go to the appropriate storage bin, takes a lot of the frustration out of finding something.

friscomike, boarding was supposed to start last night, but I was reading for a bit first and promptly fell asleep.

    • That is some fine scale modeling Ron. Your scratch build is progressing fantastic.

      • Ron the fence looks good so far; should look great when the boards are installed. Always helps
to be organized when modeling and also saves time not having to hunt for things.

        • Thanks for the comments Louis and Larry, I'm having fun with this build.

Jeb: Well Clem, we finished building the fence like we promised Mr Lyon. What say we go into town and get us some moonshine.

Clem: Jeb, that sounds like a great idea. I think this is the best fence we ever built, Mr Lyon is going to be real happy.

If you haven't figured it out the fence is all boarded up (pun intended)

          The backside.

The goal here was to not go overboard with broken and uneven boards. I want it to show some use and abuse, but not have it look totally rundown. I also didn't want a picket fence look either.

Next up is a little more stressing of the boards, especially along the bottom where moisture would weep up the boards and do some weathering, you know the fun stuff.

Next time maybe Jeb and Clem should wait till after the work is done before they hit the moonshine.

I definitely think you accomplished your objective! Great looking fence. You know no boundaries in modeling.

                  • Thanks Scott, Rick, Mike, Larry and Philip. I'm liking the fence. Just need to do some light weathering and it will be ready to install.

An overall view of the installed fence, you can clearly see the two missing portions that will be custom built to fit the space.
