    I have a question regarding your boiler. How did you attain such a nice rust patina? (post#135)
    I am looking for techniques for the stacks on my Canfield Lime Co., and I like your technique.

                Ron,

                Very nice.

                Amongst the details, are you going to add the various tension rods that these old boxcars had? They were hidden by the sheathing so rarely modeled except for stock cars.

                  Jerry, yes the car is On30.

                  Scott, I am not an expert when I comes to rust, it is a trial and error process for me. Basically I start with washes, let them dry, add pigments, fix them with dullcote and then apply more washes. All the products used were to weather the boiler are made by Vallejo.

                  Mike & Rick, glad you like the chronology of constructions. It is a bit of work editing the pictures to post but they explain things better than words.

                  Mike H, never even thought of the tension rods that are on the inside of the car. Will have to find some plans that show where they were installed inside the car to see if it is to late to add them.

                    OK, a little progress to report, but first...........

                    My order from Tichy arrived, I ordered most of the NBW sizes that Tichy make. But I prefer to keep my detail parts organized so I can find them in the future.

                    And Voila, all organized.

                    And now back to the build...........

                    After staining a bunch of 4" x 4" for the fence posts and stringers, it wasn't till I was cutting everything to size that I realized that I didn't stain enough 4" x 4", so some more were stained and cut to size.

                    Most of the fence posts and stringers glued together. The fencing will go along the front and sides of the diorama, there will be fencing along the back. Some filler stringers will need to be cut for where the corners are and along one side where the angle of the fencing changes along one side.

                    The fence boards cut and stained ready to be installed on the fence. I have a bad feeling that I will be staining more fence boards before I'm done.

                        Your fences look good. They are always useful for piling junk against.

                        I like your way to organize parts. It beats mine of simply cramming them in a box.
