  • I'm back - I'd like to re-introduce myself

    Hi...
My name is Lance Russwurm. I actually was a member here for years under the handle "DaVinci1953" I just noticed that this site is up and operating again. I'm glad to see that it seems to have upgraded a lot.
I'm from Ontario, Canada. I've been a model railroader for 25 years or so in both N and HO scale. Currently I don't have any kind of layout, but I'm picking away at various dioramas. I particularly like building craftsman style structures and scenery - mostly in the steamClick image for larger version

ID:	968601 era, but I enjoy some early diesels too. The enclosed photo is a scene from a diorama I built many years ago that some of you may remember called "Bleeker Street" It was done for a contest sponsored by Downtown Deco. The theme was to be "The other side of the tracks". Normally, I do scenes set back in the steam era.
I'm semi-retired now. I was commercial artist for most of my life. I'm still doing some of that. I'm also a musician - still doing some performing. I like old mechanical things - trains, cars, airplanes etc. They show up in my art, and in my life. My current best toy is an old MG sports car.

    Lance,

Welcome Home! Good to see you posting again, and yes indeed, I remember Bleeker Street! One hopes that the neighborhood has improved somewhat....

    Stay safe!

Thanks! It wouldn't be any fun if the neighborhood was improved.

Fond memories of your work from “back in the day”. Nice to be re-exposed to your craftsmanship.

    The MG is nice.

Thanks Karl. Just got the MG a couple of months ago. It goes away for winter storage in a week or so.

Hey Lance, nice to see you and your amazing modeling & photography of it, back here once again!
Perhaps once you get that MG stored away for the winter, you will have some more time to get back to some modeling.

Yeah, it appeared that I couldn't use my old handle either. In a week or so the old MG goes away!

MG-TC, TA, A, B, BGT, or C? I waved goodbye to my MGBGT to a guy in Canada about 20 years ago. Fun car!. I think he lived in Guelph. Welcome back!

It's a '73 B Roadster. Guelph is the next city over from here.

    Welcome Back Lance!
Wasn't that a tin pan alley type street scene? What category was the old thread in?

Welcome back Lance. Always enjoyed your work, and Bleeker street was stunning.
looking forward to seeing what you're currently up to.

Here is the Bleeker St thread here. Certainly was the seedier side of town.
