  • Carl,
Trying to catch up, been away from the computer. The interurban turned out great! I like those brass clamps.
    Beautiful stone work, nice technique.

      • The base is now painted and dry brushed its final colors. Steps, railings and pedestal glued down. Between the rails I installed a wooden insert, and covered it with a light coat of joint compound & more paint.

A common 12" twisted wire bottlebrush tree is being decorated with miniature lights and ornaments by the Mrs.. Some were hung with decorative string, but a hot glue gun was used for most items..

The interurban, colonnade and the tree are having their LED wires fished through the top, then the entire unit lowered down & glued to the bottom section.

I can now mount the building and finish up the wiring.

I found a Micronart (sadly closed down) brass kit of an 1889 4 passenger sleigh. A single small .009" sheet of parts. Instructions were straightforward and CA glue is recommended.

The bench seats are folded in to shape. I pre-painted these and other parts and will touch up later.

You could leave the brass alone in some areas like the main runners and rails, but it just looked too stark. I mixed some silver and bronze metallic paints together instead.

Preiser brand reindeer and Santa Claus received some much needed color alterations and aging.

              • Tough keeping up with your ease of speed. Nice looking Micronart brass kit of that 1889 4 passenger sleigh. It's a shame you didn't scan the pieces before putting it together. Great job and nice colors. And your courtyard is an other masterpiece added to your build.

                • I very much like the concrete color that you've achieved on the base, Carl. The sleigh and reindeer are Preis-less.

                    • Very nicely done, Carl! You might want to call a formal inspection for the reindeer, though... there seem to be a couple missing, and we don't want any kiddos losing out because The Man is not running with a full crew!

                      Stay safe!

Oh in just case your counting he did have 8 reindeer, but will let it go this time!

                            • Kevin, George, Rick, Louis, Bruce, Bernd, Pete, Mike, Rich and Jerry- thank you all for your very kind words.

It's been the biggest undertaking ever for me- so I'm kind of grateful to be done!

Pete and Jerry- I'm embarrassed to admit I missed that detail. The Presier pack only had 6 reindeer- and they were expensive! (So I'll claim it's their fault!)

Louis- Not to worry, I actually have two Micron sleigh kits- but good call on the scanning. I shall do so immediately.

You may have an out for the reindeer issue.... I posted a link to a tune last week (#778) in the "Favorite Songs" thread in the Crew Lounge. Just be careful if you have to go that route... you'll need some friendly cops on board!
