  • Central Valley Turnouts

Hello, Crew! I have to modify my layout bench work in order to fit it into a corner of the basement and I need to get an idea of what turnouts to use this time around. In the past I've used custom made ones that I spiked to hand-laid ties and I like the results. On the upper end, I'm considering buying a turnout jig from Fast Tracks. I also checked out Central Valley's turnout kits that I could also spike into my own wood ties. The cost is more than reasonable, but quality concerns me. Has anyone used the CV turnout kits or know anything about them? Thanks!

Forget that idea...the kits are only a switch tie strip and not what I'm looking for although the turnout detail kit is something that I could use. I'll stick with my Fast Tracks plan.

I recall pre-soldered frog/point assemblies offered in the 1960s, but haven't seen any advertised this century. There are also a few people who own Fast Tracks jigs and will sell turnout assemblies made in them. But not in such volume you see ads in magazines.
