    No apologies needed, it's all part of getting a new project up and running. At some of us can sign in and carry on and try to help some of the others if they have the patients, which some don't seem to have.

    I'm happy to just to able to have the forum up and running. Thanks much Joe.

      Two practical things: First, login cookies expire in 24 hours. Now that RR-Line uses SSL encryption, there's much less reason to expire logins that fast. But I can't say how easy it would be to change.

      Second, the old RR-Line's own Search functionality didn't work, so we got used to using Google site:railroad-line.com. I've tried that with the new RR-Line, but all the links still have the old TOPIC_ID values instead of the new node/#####. Is there a simple way to ask for a re-index while avoiding excessive load?

        Having troubles reaching this location... http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/t...TOPIC_ID=23577 every time I try to open link I get sent back to the main RR Line page.

        Internal links do not work and will probably never work due to different verbiage. Old links end with /forum/T...tOPIC_id=(a four digit figure). In the new forum they end with /node/(a number). You'll have to manually find what you are looking for. I don't know if a fix will can be made in the future to remedy this situation or not. Joe would be the one to answer this.

          Posting my first pictures, I figured out:

          1. Use the Image icon right of center in the toolbar above.
          2. Use the new window's Upload tab to get your image (I'm sticking with 200 kilobytes or less out of respect for Joe's disk space).
          3. Once it's uploaded, click 'Send it to the server'
          4. Switch to the Image Info tab and the URL will magically appear in its window. Fill in title etc. as you wish.
          5. Post the image and it will appear in the new post pane.

            Well, I thought I had this all settled and I was signed in to the Forum and that was remembered......

            But yesterday I found that every time I closed the tab after visiting, I got signed out from the Forum. Now I have to sign in every time I open a tab to visit the Forum. A bit annoying and odd, both.

            Also, I can't find a way to Search the entire Forum. Can search within a thread but not an entire category area.
            In a time like ours seemings and portents signify. Ours is a generation when dogs howl and the skin crawls on the skull with its beast's foreboding.

              Excellent instructions, James.

              Martin, I think the search function is still awaiting a fix. No clue as to why you're experiencing the login problem. I'd find it very annoying too. In fact, logging in is awkward on my laptop because when I type in the password the characters are not echoed and I can't see if I'm typing it correctly.

                Okay, waiting for a fix, but I can't even find it for a general search so lost. I was looking for something I had replied to in the last 2 weeks and could not even find it scrolling through pages. Old eyes maybe...

                I had this computer save the log in info, so at least it's front loaded.

                Now here's the real test - how do I clear the 403 Forbidden problem from my Kindle Fire????

                  Michael,

                  After you type in the first letter of your password you'll see what looks like a eye with a brow over it to the right in the password box.. Click on that and you'll be able to see your password.
