Good morning, guys. No hot, steamy weather here today, thankfully. The cold front and rain that moved through the area yesterday took care of that, and the heat wave is now broken for the time being.

Mowing and watering is on my agenda for today. And then....? I may just take it easy.... sit on the patio and read the new RMC... get out on the water if there's not too many other boats already out there.... in short, a nice, quiet lazy day. Just what I need.

I spent a little time last evening working on another page make-over for my website. And that's all the news from me. Have a good one, everyone.

Yes, it looks like the weather will keep me indoors today, so I hope to get some solid time in on the layout during the day.

George (or Russ, or anyone), I could use a bit of advice on adding decals to a steamer. I just got my Champ decals in to allow me to letter an undecorated steamer for the Lackawanna. Do you find that you can add the details right over the factory paint job, or do you need to give the surface a glossier finish? If you need the gloss finish, do you apply some with a brush from a jar, or spray? I hate to spray around the drive wheels/gears of a steamer. If you you put the gloss on with a brush, just where the decals are going to go, does it show up later, or can you hide it? Sorry for all the questions, but the last time I decaled a steamer, my overspray coated the pickup wheels, and a good runner became a bad runner.

Things are somewhat cooler outside ....a welcome change .

The Teejay household is " cautiously optimistic " at Bonnies improvement with yet another medication , one that she discovered herself during all her digging for info . I have to give her full marks for tenacity and perseverence in this matter , given the frustration with her doctor . She has done all the digging and leg work on her ailment and it SEEMS ( I say that guardedly ) to be paying off . We're keeping our " fingers crossed ".

It's my Saturday to work but tonight I'm going to get back to a steel mill project , using Ralph's inspiration .

Gooooooooood morning RR-Line Crew. Haven't used that opening for quite a while.

Today is going to be a lazy day for me. Got some small-time Honey-do's to get at and I may tinker around at the bench for a while. Thanks for the breakfast George. The staple foods are always good.

The weather here in the Piedmont of NC is cloudy and muggy with the threat of rain showers and TS's during the day. Same for tomorrow. A really heavy thunderbumper woke me up at about 0330 and we really got pounded but no high winds or anything like that.

Still looking for that elusive 'John's dog' puppy. Man, these little beasts are not cheap. A woman in the mountains is advertising some 4-6 week olds but she wants $1K each and I just don't want to put in that kind of money. If we were showing or competing maybe so but not for just a 'pal' dog...and we keep looking...

Some time ago I was referencing fan blower buildings on the net and came across a photo of one that looked really simple (never mind the comments

). I just happened to have a nice cardboard box laying around that once held trash can liners sooo..., I laid out an approximation of what I wanted, made an exhaust vent out of some Evergreen tubing and...viola...er...voila...er...whatever, anyway I got what I wanted...a little 10' square bldg with a roof on it and a vent tube sticking out one side. Works for me. Now, this is in nowise to be compared with the ones that Chuck built but for the cost and effort and effect I'm happy. (Thanks for the inspiration Chuck).

Good morning all. Seeing as I'm just back from a stint in another city and my daughter just returned from a major trip, it's family time today. Catching up on lawn work yesterday and today. The weeds have really taken off since we finally got a bit of rain and then it was blisteringly hot. The big Troy-bilt will get a workout today. [:x] wants to get some day lilys today to put a couple places. I have to go with her as the fellow that has the day lily patch is a bit of a hound dog around the ladies.

Weather here has moderated and is only supposed to be in the 79-80 degree range today after mid 90s all last weekend.

Terry, it is good to hear the word on Bonnie. We all wish her the best and continued progress. Y'all in our prayers for sure.

Good morning all from Georgia where it actually rained last night.

We have been without rain for a while and the grass had turned a wonderful shade of brown.

We have water restrictions here that do not allow watering the lawn.

Now maybe the grass will grow and that will mean mowing will be back on the schedule.

I am still plugging away on the gas Station Challenge and hope to be able to post a few pictures in the next day or two.

Well with the rain here today I will in the shop doing decals myself, I use Poly Scale gloss and airbrush it over the hole loco and a little more at the decal site. After decals I gloss again over the decal and then flat the hole thing. For the drivers I use masking tape down the sides and then only lightly weather the wheels later and then clean them.

Good Morning George & to the Rest of the Crew,

Thanks for having the lounge open, George. We are a little out-of-it from sleeping in this morning. We're trying to catch up from yesterday's heat wave. We set some records here on the RIMid="blue"> as Hillsboro had a whopping 108 degrees, Portland had 104, and our thermometer in Jennings Lodge registered between 107-108 in the shade. By 8 PM, temps had cooled off to a muggy 100 degrees. I don't think our A/C missed a beat.

Our bath remodel project continues to make progress. We are involved in modifying wall frames for new fixtures including fans, medicine cabinet, lights, outlets, and switching controls. Gradually, the sheetrock is peelin' away. Hopefully, before long, we will see some green-board go up.

[:-love] is a callin' me to breakfast so it looks like this will have to come to an end, at least for now.

I started with an undecorated loco. I applied the decal directly to the surface - no Gloss Cote. Here's a picture of the tender shell with the decal and two coats of Dull Cote from a rattle can. I used the Jim Six method of rolling stock photography (scan).

It seems like there's been an increase in the number of patients who are finding their own medications and cures through their own research, while their doctors are unable to offer anything beyone the "usual."

JR, I know that $1,000 puppies are increasingly becoming the norm, but I still have a hard time "buying" that. [:-irked] I love my Westie, Mattie, but I'll be darned if I'd pay a thousand bucks to replace her. I'd probably do just what you're doing.... keep looking.

Nice decaling job, George. :up: BTW: what's happened to Jim? He hasn't been around here in a couple of weeks. I've been hoping to see some more of his weathering jobs.
