  • Thursday, Spring ahead guys, it's been a week!

Getting later and later at this breakfast thing!

Grits are ready as well as toast, sausage, rolls and bacon with eggs ready to jump in the pan as well. A few biscuits from Bob Evans are in the oven ready to come out, just a light toasty tan and moist, mmmmm.... perfect for sopping up the last of those fried eggs and grits!

Zero mrring in progress. I did receive some strip wood from Doug Foscale for my Caldwell's, not enough in the kit for the garage building. I've now noticed the lazer cut sheet for the handcar shed and fire hose shack are on horizontal grooved wood rather than verticle siding as described in the instructions and photos. Have to send Doug another note, I guess, as he sure is good to deal with. I am managing to make the buildings come together fine no matter the material.

Lawn work and outside chores have turned the honey-do list into a honey-better list. Today will be spent sharpening the blades, cleaning the housing and greasing the zerks and putting the deck back on the ole John Deere GT-245id="green"> so I can get ready to.... yep, it's about that timeid="green">

Well gotta run, get some coffee from the pot and get a move on!

    BE SAFE!

Good morning Karl, thanks for opening the lounge. I know what you mean, this has been a week of yard work and finishing up the income taxes -- no modeling at all. Oh well, different times of the year have different demands on your time.

We have some relatives stopping by today, so any modeling will be later tonight.

    Enjoy the day!

      Gooooooood Morning Karl and Bruce!

      Thanks for opening, Karl...

[:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] WHERE'S THE COFFEE??? [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] [:-bigmouth] id="Comic Sans MS">id="red">id="size3">

I haven't been MRRing yet this week becasue of a variety of wimpy excuses. [V] Unless, of course, you consider ordering a new kit on-line MRRing! [:-dopey] My little tower is about 1/2 done and I'll be installing lights soon. Gettin' there! Well, I have a big day here at The Database...gotta get one of the managers up an' runnin' with usernames, passwords, imported and exported data, all that good stuff. (Shhhhhhh.....I need to re-learn how to do all that first!) [:-paperbag] I have to get my face off of this screen and onto another. I'll check in later....See you!

        Good morning, guys.

Well, the unseasonable weather continues. We've got summer in April here in the Heartland, with temps forecast to hit 90 later today and 90-93 tomorrow. Not good, since we're still in a drought pattern that goes back to last fall. I sat here and sweltered yesterday afternoon, but it ain't gonna happen again today. I'm going to shut the windows and turn on the AC around lunch time.

No modeling for me lately. I have a new computer on order, so I've been trying to get a bunch of files and other data on this one ready to move to the new one when it arrives. Also, I've had quite a bit of yard work to get out of the way (like most folks at this time of year). Model railroading has had to take a back seat for the time being.

Speaking of yard work, I've got some weeds to get sprayed this morning, so I'd better get to it. Have a good day, everyone.

          Good morning folks

It looks like our expected rain has fizzled out over the mountains of central Pennsylvania and all we will get is a few showers. Hopefully there wouldn’t be enough to affect my daughter’s softball practice.

No modeling last again. My son had baseball practice and I spent some time planning out our route for our upcoming trip to Niagara Falls in June. For whatever reason I seem to be in a modeling funk, maybe it is a case of Spring fever.

I hope everybody has a good day.

            Good morning, Karl & Crew,

It's gonna be a real nice day here in the L.A. area, clear skies, with temps near 80 in our neck of the woods. But then, it's supposed to start raining tonight and continue through tomorrow. That's OK, though, because that means my own Honeydew list will just be the inside cleaning and stuff. That only takes a couple of hours, so I can spend the rest of the day " . . . workin on the railroad."[:-sing]

Speaking of which, this morning I managed to get done most of what I had planned. I added some ground cover around the highway signs, recovered a section of scenery, weathered the highway and planted one large moss covered oak tree. So except for just a few more details, I'm ready to start working on the oil mill scene.[:-bouncy] Nothing like a contest deadline to kick start the momentum.[:-clock]

            Catch y'all later.

Good Morning and talk to you later. I'm going to the land of no computers for the weekend, so you probably won't have to answer my stupid questions for a few days!

              Enjoy your weekends,

              Alan

                Howdy to you all,

Once again a very nice spring AM here on the Island. Got daffodils in profusion in the yard, and the tulips are all abud, ready to spring forth in color any moment now.

Doing some finicky work on Fennimore's, that taxes my shaky hands and eyes.

I've been taking longer walks each day as I heal. Lots of detail to observe at a walking pace around this hood, versus my usual mode of just driving by and having to focus on traffic.

I'll have to take some more pictures before all the old stuff gets disappeared by frantic development and urban renewal.

The ethnic diversity of the entire area has taken a quantum leap in the past few years. English speaking storekeepers are in the minority. There are so many different ethnic conclaves, that it's impossible for me to figure who's who, or who's from where. The variety of different music and beats blaring from cars and open windows is astounding, and in languages that I've never heard very often, despite being an urban dweller most of my life. And there are storefront eaterys catering to every taste: Sri Lankan, Bosnian, Jamaican, Italian, Hallal, Indonesian, Chinese, Korean, Middle Eastern....

It's the American Dream, in full tilt boogie, all over again, like it was for European immigrants in the last two centuries. And there are piles of kids, going to New York schools, full of strident energy and shrill exuberance at being alive and young in America. I remember how it was.

                      Steve...
Thanks for your inspiring words! As a grandson of a man who spoke very lttle English and worked hard all of his life, I appreciate it. Our family name is on the Immigrant Wall of Honor at Ellis Island. There are two local food stores here where I live that give me a glimpse into the days past when entire neighborhoods spoke different languages. Every Easter, my wife, grandchilden and in-laws observe our own tradition of having a big Polish meal to celebrate the Holiday and to remember our ancestry. Yep, and every year at this time we get together with my wife's side of the family to celebrate their Eastern European Jewish ancestry with a full Passover seder. My ancestry we celebrate on March 17.[:-drunk]
