Sorry I did not respond earlier about my kit building, but I had some meetings to attend

I find that I have to much shelf space, I used to buy a kit because I liked the looks of it with really no plan on where it will fit. For the most part these are the shelf sitters.

In the last few years I have only bought craftsman kits for specific areas/scenes I want to create. With those being on the front shelf they seem to get built, and the ones that probably won't get built are on the back shelfs. (maybe ebay)

The one area that I am really trying to improve on, is completing the scene. Not only install the kit on the layout, but finish all the scenery and detail installation, IMO this is what really makes it look complete.

Russ, I will have to think broader about my questions as I never thought of car kits. But I know some of the car kits that are being built now are truly craftsman kits. I love the looks, but I have chosen to buy RTR or easy build car kits. I could easily see how one could really get into this part of the hobby though.

Sounds like we are all pretty similar on our buying habits and storing some of these kits for awhile before building them.

You know, I tell Julie, you have to buy them when you can. I am not going to tell you her reply.[:-cowboy]

Sheese, I only got buzzed this am by a solo A-10 returning to Battle Creek from a morning run to the Grayling range I believe. Usually they're in pairs. Today's was really low, sometimes you can actually see the lucky guy that gets to "drive" it!
Honey do and yard duties abound today. Rolled 2+ acres of lawn and pulled up 20 or so metal posts that were for stakeouts on some pines we had put in a coulel years ago.

As far as kits, only as I plan to use them generally. I have a couple partially done awaiting layout progress. I can say most of the area on my layout will be limiting the size of anything I build.

Back to the outdoors. Have a good one, y'all!

Hi John. I'm doing well, thanks for asking. I stop in occassionally to see how everyone is doing, glad to see all the activity.

My room is 90% done, and most of the benchwork is up...spending a lot of time getting the roadbed set up and making sure the track is smooth.

I put some pictures on a photo site I use. The room is a total mess with all the construction and stuff thrown all over the place. But I know where everything is, and I'll clean up once I get further along. Hope the pictures give an overall view. Still have a lot more to do before I can start scenery and structures.

Welcome back, Mike. It's good to see you here again. Your photoshow is really neat!

And a belated good evening - or good day - to everyone. I spent the day in assorted hassles with petty bureaucrats and credit card representatives (they're all interchangeable!!) all because of a "system" error that took place while I was attempting to renew my vehicle tags online this morning. [:-gnasher][:-gnasher] So as it stands now, I have paid for new tags which the good state of Missouri (meaning one of the state's petty bureaucrats!!) says I have not renewed. [:-gnasher][:-irked] I do not appreciate wasting several hours of my life on "hold" or other crap like that, so I will get it straightened out! And soon.[:-irked]

          Enough venting.

It looks like things have been awfully quiet here today. Are we heading back into the Spring Doldrums?

          Have a good evening, all.

Why Mike, . .You've made my day! [:-bouncy] Please be careful, you know what happens at 212 F. [:-splat]

I've noticed the same thing about the quietness here.

              Mike,

It looks like you have been busy in "Dad's Train Room"! Don't be a stranger. It is good to see you checking in.
