    I'm sure that there is one available. I'll dig up my Model Expo catalogue and

    see if they have one. I know that the original African Queen has been restored and

    is owned by an individual in Florida. At least part of the fictional history of the

    movie has been preserved. If I remember correctly I found it doing a google search.

    I ran across a very similiar steamer to yours yesterday. I'll try to find it tonight

    and post a scan.

      What got me going on the vertical boiler loco ( I don't think it's a Shay ) was a cover picture and accompanying inside article a few years back .I could have sworn it was Finescale Railroader but may be wrong ...couldn't find the book ,naturally, but stumbled across a look -alike while surfing Google for ON30 .

      Then out came my wallet !

      Now I just have to settle on a theme ...the A.Q. would be a blast , wouldn't it ? Or maybe a desert scene in......Casablanca

            I don't know if someone makes a plastic vertical boiler kit or not , Steve , I couldn't see one when looking on Google .This is brass so unfortunately is priced accordingly . I've never had a brass loco before so this will be special .

              It has arrived !!!

              Funny , it doesn't look quite like the picture .Where is Johnny now that I need to enrol in Soldering 101 ??



              The good people at Backwoods sure know how to wrap things for long distance mailing ....bubble wrapping and taping the little packages to the inside wrapping , nothing damaged .Hey , I'm excited about this project .

                    I'm going to take my time with this one , no need to rush . I'm going to get a pencil type iron tomorrow , probably at Radio Shack , because my 150 Watt is too much for this project .

                    The instructions , illustrations and hints fill 15 one sided pages and are a pleasure to read ,almost like having a conversation complete with Very English quips and statements .Since it was mailed on the 15th , it took about as long as Peter ( Backwoods owner ) suggested .There were no extra charges or duties that I had wondered about , never having bought anything from overseas before .

                    Let the fun begin !

                        If anybody wants , I can make sort of a tutorial on it here or on a separate topic .I can show the required tools , how to make rivets , soldering , assembly , painting and weathering .It will be slow going because I have other things to build .I'm happy to give it a try if it will be useful to others .
