I'm new to the forum and would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and have been modeling and collecting model kits in some form or another for about 25 years. I'm getting back into railroad models after a 4 year break (burn-out due to MR club politics). During the break I indulged in motorcycling and military/ship modeling. I also collect old engineering/industrial books and catalogs, they are great to flip through for ideas and inspiration.
Selecting a single scale, gauge, or favorite line is just about impossible for me to do. I have done most of my work in HO (post 1950 SE USA and Canadian prototypes) and in On3 (freelance mining), both in modular format since I can't stay focused on one theme long enough to get a layout built.
Right now my modeling goals are to start building (and FINISHING!!) most of the structure and rolling stock projects I have stashed away in the basement and to become more proficient at scratch-building, and casting. Ultimately I'd like to build some On30 and/or HO modules/dioramas and to work up a good collection of fine-scale 1920's era rolling stock. I won't rule out another layout attempt, something like a port/harbour, but that is still a long way away.
I hope I can contribute a little bit to this forum but don't be too surprised if I stay in the background. My thanks in advance to the members who do post pictures and comments on the projects they are working on...the information really helps me stay inspired and creative.
Welcome to the Fourm! If you find the secret to finishing those projects sitting on the shelf, please share with all of us. Actually, if you look at Challenge 4 in the Craftsman Fourm, you will see that we are trying to support each other while we finish at least one of our unfinished projects. Again, welcome to the Forum.
Welcome to all the new members who have taken the time to fill out this short biography about themselves.
I hope you all enjoy your stay here and while a forum is made up of many members of different interests we all have one goal in mind.
That is to become better at whatever phase of this great hobby interests us.
So please feel free to join in the discussions and give to us what you know and take from us what you would like to learn.
Again welcome to the forum.

This thread of introductions has now grown to 24 pages. While it's fun reading, 24 pages is also a lot to go through. So we've started a second thread for new member introductions, with the same questions John posed at the start of this one.
It's really great getting to know one another. We hope all new members will take a few moments and introduce themselves in the new thread. Thanks!
