    • Hello. Cruising the net and landed here. My name is Jeremy Wallace (aka jubylives aka juby4life). I see some familiar names here but I will still introduce myself. I model mainly the Rock in an "as if". As if it never went bankrupt. I also model the BNSF, SP, and CNW. The latter being my favorite railroad as it is the rr I saw most around these here parts and got me started in the hobby. Around these parts is Boone Iowa. I work for a truss manufacturer and my title is "Jig and Batch/Scheduling assistant". It's hard to describe my job but to simlpy put it, I'm the middle man between Design and Production. I turn computer files (from Design) into paper which the shop will use to pick, cut and stage lumber and then assemble wood roof and floor trusses and wall panels.

I am 29 married for 10 1/2 years and have three kids, 4, 7, and 10. Two girls and a boy. That pretty much sums it up. No picture of me as I have just landed here and don't want to get the boot so soon . So that's me.

      Jeremy

      • Jeremy,

Welcome to the forum. I think that you will find it a place where you can learn a lot and 'shoot the breeze' with other modelers.

          • Welcome Jeremy. Glad to have you on board. Like Jim said, you'll have to help us with input about trusses & roofs.

            • At Jim's urging, I am posting my introduction. Seems that we have many mutual aquaintances since I used to live in the same West Texas city that he does....it is, indeed, a small world!

              1) What State or Country and nearest City we live inid="blue">

I live just outside of Richmond, VA. in Western Hanover County, with more horses, dogs and cats than we really need. I commute to Lynchburg, VA during the week, where I work as an engineer for Tyco Electronics.

              2) How long modeling and how we got startedid="blue">

My first "electric train" was a Lionel set for Christmas in 1960 (wish I still had THAT one!). Many years ago, when my son was young, we had a 4x8 sheet of plywood with some HO sectional track and some plaster mountains that we had a great time with, that's the closest I have ever come to having a "model railroad".

              3) What lines we modelid="blue">

None, I am a "freelance" kind of guy. I like backwoodsy, a bit run down, narrow guage stuff. Mining and lumber seem to call to me.

              4) years we modelid="blue">

Interested in the late steam era.

              5) how large is your layout and what scale do you model.id="blue">

No layout, no room for one right now. I have been smitten by the On30 bug since my wife gave me a Bachmann Porter for Christmas a couple of years ago. Alas, no place to run it yet.

              6) if we use DC, DCC or otherid="blue">

I would like to use DCC, being an engineer, I am fascinated by "high tech steam trains"

All I have to do is figure out how to get a decoder in the porter...

              7) anything else you want to addid="blue">

We are planning on me retiring and moving back to Texas sometime in the next couple of years, probably the Hill Country area. One of the pre-requsites is that the new house have a layout room. In the meantime, I am going to start a few structures, mostly scratch built, just to have something to do.

              8) post your picture if you dareid="blue">

Boy, you guy's are gluttons for punishment, aren't you? 8D Ok, here is Leslie and I, as you can see, we have another expensive hobby as well!

              • Welcome, Jeremy and Lee. Glad to have you aboard. Feel free to join in any and all discussions. You don't have to be  to talk about some of the things we get into, but it helps at times.

                    • No, it didn't hurt, Jim...but you ARE a bad influence, I placed my first order with Brett at Sierra West, yesterday. I fear that I am lost, lost I tell you!

                        • I ordered the O scale mill engine and boiler. Not sure exactly what I am going to do with them, but have been coveting them since they first came out. I'll make it up as I go along. [}] There is certianly a wealth of inspiration here in the forums, the level of talent is sometimes a bit staggering!

                          • Welcome, Jeremy! Are you from Boone, Iowa? I have relatives in nearby Madrid. We used to go out there every summer, when I was growing up. I think it is great to see the Rock as if it never went under.
