  • Who's in the Northeast?

I keep seeing references in other forums to various locations that we all live or work in. It would be great to know who can (or would be willing to) answer questions of a regional nature based on the ability to check out an area close to home for someone who lives far away. Therefore, how about if we all post our home base and the areas we frequent most?

I live in Drexel Hill, PA which is just west of Philadelphia. Unfortunately there are no rail lines close to my home. I grew up in Crum Lynne, PA 500 feet from the B&O Philadelphia Subdivision. Also you could see the PRR Washington to New York line from my front porch.

I have over the years railfaned and photographed most of the rail lines in Delaware County. I have done the B&O Subdivision, Amtrak Northeast Corridor, Amtrak ex-PRR Main Line, Conrail Stony Creek Branch, SEPTA Media-Elwyn Line. I have ridden all the commuter lines out of Philadelphia and railfan various portions of them.

The Baldwin Locomotive plant was across the street from my grade school. My father worked there and at General Steel as did many of his relatives and friends.

        Hello,

I am from Queens County, NY (the forgotten borough). I live 4 blocks away from the New York and Atlantic Railway, the shortline that handles freight over LIRR trackage. Oh yes, we also have plenty of subway lines!!

        Happy railroading!

I'm in Philly, and have spent the past year railfanning the Southeastern PA region, along with the Poconos, South Jersey, Cumberland MD, and Grafton WV.

RRs I've photo'd include Class 1's plus shortlines Bel-Del, Winchester & Western, Delaware-Lackawanna, Reading & Northern, PRL , Susie Q ... along with scenics Stourbridge, New Hope & Ivyland and Strasburg.
