I am new to forums and mrr. Since getting into mrr I have of course become a big railfanner and become quite observant. I live in Birmingham,AL and am quite fortunate to be able to see equip. from 4 class 1 rr's almost every day plus the occasional KCS freight. These are CSX which has a hump hard and engine facility here(Boyles Yard), NS who also has a main yard and supporting facilities(Norris Yard) in Irondale ("Fried Green Tomatoes" fame). Norris yard(NS) is over a small mountain from me and I can here hump crunches when the wind is right. BNSF has a yard here also. It is former Frisco yard(Thomas Yard). And of course the mighty UP has at least two Intermodal trains through here just about every day. I do not have much photo capability as of now but will do what I can with my shirt pocket 35mm. I will be glad to research anything in the area than I can for anyone.

Carl,
I noticed that you have some NS pics in this forum. Do you have any yard pics, or better yet, can you tell me names of NS yards?
I can go search for the information on my own, if I KNOW what to look for. Thanks!
Later.

Carl,
Try to get as many of those older fallen flag units as you can. Soon they will all be "assimilated".

NW Florida is my local. The closest rail line is about 20 miles to the north. It is CSX, but I see UP, BNSF, and even saw a SP tunnel motor Saturday. Wasn't able to get a picture of it since I was driving in heavy traffic on a bridge on I-10 just east of Pensacola, FL. It was in an eastbound UP intermodal consist on the railroad bridge that crosses the Escambia Bay next to the interstate. Had the bridge had an emergency lane, I would have pulled over to take pics.

Can you get a bit more detailed on that? I do not think you came across, then again I have not had any tea today as of yet.

Who's in the Southeast?
I keep seeing references in other forums to various locations that we all live or work in. It would be great to know who can (or would be willing to) answer questions of a regional nature based on the ability to check out an area close to home for someone who lives far away. Therefore, how about if we all post our home base and the areas we frequent most?
