  • Train Sim Add__Ons.

Today I picked up a Trin Sim add on called Regional add on pack. It has 20 classic locomotives including a RDC.I also notice a add on call Train Sim Modeler. Is this hard to use? It seems like it would be a ideal add on. Comments?

Thank-you for your help. I believe that this actually was released over-seas at the beginning of the year and I have been looking in all the local computer stores for it. Let me know how it is and what routes you get with it. I will search the internet some more.

Now, to help you with your question, have you searched the train-sim.com archives? I have found answers to many questions there in the past.

        Happy railroading!

Russ,Here is a list of what you get.

GP38-2 High Hoods Southern and NS.

            GP38-2 D&H,PC,Soo,CP

            SD40 CN and BN

            SD40-2 Conrail and AT&SF

            SW7 CB&O,Chessie- C&O

Dash9 44cw Santa fe and CP

            FA2 NYC

            FPA4 CN

F7 A&B ATSF and Rio Grande

            RDC1 B&M and BC Rail.

There is no routes with this add on.Just the engines.

Randy,All you do to add this add on is use the autorun enabled and follow the instructions. Now if you are like I am and don't have that then,Go to start menu, select RUN,browse and navaigate to the letter of your CD drive, double click SET UP.EXE TO INSTALL.Follow the instructions that will appear on your screen. Now if you are asking how to down load and install from the Mirco Shoft site,I have no idea of how it is done.Computers is still new to me as far as down load/install goes on the Train Sim.

Guys that Train Sim modeler will let you add engines, cars scenery, and make your own routes. You can make you own private railroad!I really am interested in this add on as you can add to the current Train Sim routes.

I have the Erie Mining add on and am waiting on the routes from Mirco Soft.I will also add the Sand Patch add on.

Now,when I got the regional add on I was told there will be many more add ons as this is a very popular game.If I understood it right there is suppose to be a dispatcher also.I understand it will let you choose up to 10 railroads routes to dispatch. The salesman I talked is big in Train Sim and keeps up with all the up coming add ons.He also noted that he has a small collection of model engines but no layout. He also noted he was not a model railroader per say,but likes to collect engines like some would race cars.He sounded like a collector to me!

I never planned on getting Train Sim,untill my son show me his collection.I was shock at this as my son always had very little interest in the hobby but was always into computers games of some type. Now,he can build a computer from the ground up.He keeps old speedy(my computer's name) here up to date.I can truely say I have tons of fun with this game.

Thanks for the info Brakie! Looks as if I will be getting this. Have you used the train simulator modeler yet? Is it easy to use? The tools that come standard with MSTS are difficult to learn and I would like to make my own routes. Thanks yet again!

Russ, I do not have the TS modeler. After picket duty today I am going to Babbages and get one.I understand it is very simple to use. After you make the cars and engines it automatically adds them to TS after you give the command to do so.Same will apply to the new routes that you make. The part I am concern about is making them.I never could figure out Trainz, but, after talking to a guy that has a TS modeler he says it is much easier then Trainz.I can only hope so.

After I get it figure out I will let you know how it works. The best part it is only $29.95.

Randy,Did you get it figured out how to install the add on? If you have any questions I will try to help.

                  Larry,

i haven't tried to download it yet. My son bought me a railroad tycoon ii cd game and i started it up just to see what it was like. Interesting. Haven't figured out how to sell bonds yet but it is fun also. I may try tonight to download an engine and get it in the game. I'll let you know if i'm successful! Thanks larry!!

Ok,After running some locals all I can say about the Scenic Railway add on is WOW! You gotta see this to believe it! It is almost like having a real layout! The Graffics is excellent, but,I think I may need a updated graffic card. The cars and trucks doesn't move.My speed is fine. The locomotive are Sd40s(blue body, red stripes, with white lettering and nose stripes ) I would rate this as one of the better add ons.

Complaints.I would rather had GP10s or 16s as this operates like a short line. The only way you can use other locomotives is by using the explore route option and you need to bring cars with your choice of locomotives, the industries can still be switched..Over all I still like it.
