    Overland C415

    My LHS guy just informed me today after work that Overland is going to produce the ALCO C415 for Rock Island, available about a year from now. Your LHS is probably going to take deposits in the next while.

    The loco will be available in three paint schemes: (1) solid maroon; (2) red/yellow; and (3) bankruptcy blue. Some quick research indicates that the units were definitely clad in the first two paint schemes; I could not find proof that they were ever seen in bankruptcy blue.

    FYI the ROCK owned ten ALCO C415's, road numbers 415-424. Should be a really beautiful unit, I'm considering one for myself.

    In checking BPL Brassworks website, it does not appear this unit will be available in bankruptcy blue, which makes sense.

    7008.1: road numbers 415, 418, 423 - maroon

    7008.2: road numbers 418, 422 - maroon white yellow ends

    7008.3: road numbers 415, 421 - bright red with yellow ends

    $572US

    ( so I guess I'm a wanting 7008.3 )

      Mike,

      Why don't you just pick up a C-415 ROCK from IHC, and save the money for more locos later on down the road? Only $32 a piece.

      Does that sit well with the wife? Spending that much on an engine? It doesn't here.

        Perhaps, but Overland's entry will look and perform much much better. It'd be nice to have a "pride of the fleet", as it were. Right now I do not. We'll see, I haven't made up my mind one way or the other.

        As for the better half, no she wouldn't be very happy. But if it comes out of my money, and she doesn't know quite how much it is (i.e., if I told her $572CDN instead of $572US), she'd be fine.

          Well yes, I know where you are coming from. One outstanding unit...

          I have my Athearn custom Pacific Pride for that. It is a BN unit that has the heralds of all the fallen flag roads that made up the BN.

          I was also going to get a BN/BNSF Desert Storm unit, but haven't been able to find that one yet.

          I do understand what you are saying though.
