Hey guys, I thought it would be interesting to put together a quick little page with our Rock Island motive rosters. Anytime you have an update, lemme know.

    Cool Mike!

Although, two need to be fixed. I have 2 GP35s and 4 GP38-2s. I also am modeling my road in the modern period. I plan to have at least 30-40 ROCK units when I am finished.

My question is, what on that list of yours gets the blue and white scheme? I think I am going to add to my all white scheme, and I am going to use that for my ROCK Intermodal ONLY freight. I will go by prototype as much as I can, but please remember, my ROCK route survived the bankruptcy. LOL!

"Bankruptcy blue" is my fave scheme, so I prefer it over others. Like you, the Rock has become successful rather than faltering in my layout, and acquired Erie Lackawanna just before it got consolidated into Conrail in 1976 (I model 1980).

Of the ten units noted, both GP38-2's, the SD35, the U36B, and both switchers are in bankruptcy blue. I also sold all three passenger units on eBay last week, so they'll be removed from the list when I receive payment (they're all in red/yellow); and I am awaiting an undec Bachmann Spectrum GP35 for conversion into #305, which will be painted in maroon.

So, once all of that occurs, I'll have eight units, of which six will be bankruptcy blue. I'd like to acquire a few more road units as well, but eight will be more than enough to patrol my 7 x 12 layout for the time being; I'll add more later as budget concerns allow.

The all-white scheme of yours sounds very kewl, I'd luv to see a pic if possible.id='Georgia'>

Once the decals arrive, Mike, I will be sure to send you some photos.

I have some questions now. How do you know which snowplow and MU hoses to get to detail your motive power with? I am looking to detail my ROCK units as much as possible, before decaling them. I have looked at Details West, but I have NO CLUE what to get for my units. Any books that can help? I am going to try to either make my own, or find something similar that will give me a ROCK INTERMODAL decal for my Intermodal units. I might just have to combine some decal sets to do this. Thanks again.

More a question of what looks right based on prototype photos. I haven't really gotten into detailing that much yet, but I do have grandiose plans for the twin GP38-2's. The info I got for these puppies I received from an article in some magazine (can't remember which), another Rock fan scanned in the pages and e-mailed them to me. The article had large pictures of the units, with arrows indicating appropriate detailing features, and even which company you could get the items from.

If you're interested, I can e-mail the photos to you or post them on my website. Let me know.id='Georgia'>

Yes, Mike. I think that would be of great help and importance. If you want to post them to your site, it is fine with me. I have been there more than once...LOL! Either way is fine with me. Thanks so much! Oh, btw, I got the website's first page nearly complete, and will be working on the second one tomorrow.
