Sometimes we get lucky. Last night I pickled up an MPC Lionel BN U25 powered unit with dummy-unit for $30. I don't do BN myself, but at the price I figured it would be fun. Typical of older 1970-s Lionel: Powered unit has six-wheel trucks, dummy has 4-wheeled ones. No problem for an O27 pike. I came to find out that the book value for them is over $250. Not that I would sell them. Everything that comes to this railroad is bought because it's a keeper.

It's fun to score. The past four weeks have nettered a few, like EL Heavyweights by K-Line for $120, and some nice Marx accessories for chump change. Whether it's a deal at a train show or a purchase from one of the guys at the club, getting a good deal is icing on the cake.

    Happy Railroading!

Colouring inside the lines is for normal people, and everybody knows normal people are weird.

id=quote>id=quote> Thor, I've made so many good finds that I'm bankrupt, unregistered, under surveilance, and wearing a chastity glove for my bidding finger! ("E.M's strict orders!)

I too have come across some outstanding finds on ye ol' ebay, but my finger is not worn out from bidding. I have acquired pretty much all I am looking for, unless an unbeatable deal comes along like getting a brand new, undec Athearn SD40-2 for $21.50 comes along. Couldn't pass that one up 'cause I just 'had to have' one of those new drives.

Ebay? Actually, my best finds have been everywhere but ebay. Bought some from guys at the club, some that came my way by coincidence, a few things off Choochooauctions. I probably bought off ebay 4 or 5 times, yet the price was what one might expect and so wasn't a score. These days, what with the railway having everything it needs and more, I only buy more when it's a lucky deal.

Happiness is having all your favorite trains.
