    ALCo's

    I had to do it.

    I love the C-628, S-2, and the RS-11. I didn't see a place for them anywhere else.

    My first question is does anyone have stats for RS-11?

    The S-2 would be nice too. But I won't make big nussance(sp) of my self.

      I guess I wasn't specific. Sorry. I was looking for horsepower, weight, and length stuff. Nice pictures on the site.

          Thanks tankertoad70. That was helpful. That is a good site. I like the color of the RS11 no. 5001. I almost went with gray and med blue for my freelance layout trains. I knew I liked it but didn't remember which RR used it. I choose Gray and Burgundy with dark blue lettering.

            I've had a longtime interest in switchers. 8 of my 10 logging diesels are switchers and Alco is represented by an RS-3, an S-2 and an S-1 (was an S-2 but had a Smokey Valley S-1 hood added). Other models are a H10-44, 3 SW1200s with the 'Coos Bay' look, hood-top dynamics,air tanks and large fuel tanks,an SW1500 dummy (about 6 years outside the time frame but its a switcher and will run smoothly with anything)GP-7, GE 44tonner & 70tonner. Ieventually want to get a Baldwin VO-1000 to finish my fleet.

              I only have a few switchers. A couple SW7's and a S-2. I like the S-2 best. In ALCo I have 3 628's and a RS11. I am thinking of geting another RS11. My freelance layout only has 8 trains in my scheme and roadname. Sadly only two of these on my shortline are ALCo's.

                I personally prefer switchers because they're more in keeping with the short trains I like. The Atlas S-2 is a good low speed loco. Haven't tried the P2k S-1. My S-2 & 1 are working fine at the moment so I'll stick with them.

                    Glad you like it. I regularly look through different locos and always find something new. I have the actual EMD SD40 (no -2 here) manual. Dont know it got to Australia, but it was on a second hand stand at a train show. I live in hope of finding one for an Alco (S-2 preferably).

                      I have pulled up info for all the engines I have. Not that many really. I am going to include it as sub part to my inventory.

                        I like doing the same for my engines. It helps to tie things together if you have a model and some good reference material on the real thing.

                          I have always been fond of the RS-1.There is something about those RS-1s that makes them look bossy and some what cocky looking with that can do attitude look.

                              Hi Nelson,

                              Edmund kicked off the Alco theme, it struck a chord as we still have a lot of Alcos (251c diesels)on the road here-I posted that photo of one taking a bath in 'Off Topics' which I think you saw.

                              Things are going fine....except I'm still waiting on a friend to finish the power to my shed so I can really get into my new layout!!
