  • Fritter & Fun

    Hi MikeC., Phil and everyone,

Here is a homemade recipe for FRITTERS...now...remember to wash your hands...before you run your trains.

    L&N Debbie

    APPLE FRITTERS

4 apples peeled and cut into 1/4" slices

    3/4 cup all purpose flour

    1/2 cup beer

    1 beaten egg

    2 beaten egg whites

    1 teaspoon vegetable oil

    1 teaspoon rum

    1/2 cup powdered sugar

    Pinch salt

    Vegetable oil for deep frying

Sift flour and salt into a bowl then stir in egg, vegetable oil and

rum. Gradually stir in enough beer to make a thick batter.

Cover and let stand for 1 hour. Heat oil 350F. Fold egg whites

    into batter.

Dip the apple slices in the batter, covering completely. Fry

until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve

    hot.

Oh, this is great stuff, Debbie!!! Many many many thanks!!!

I do all of the cooking and baking around my house, so I actually know how to do all of that stuff like sifting and folding and cutting in and so forth.

I think me 'n wifey's gonna have us some fritters later this week.

Well, I went back to Atlas and read that topic that got you all riled up!

I wonder if I could use some Tequila or Crown Royale in place of the Rum Debbie? How long do they last after you cook them? Maybe I could cut the receipt in half since there is just me and the dog.

I suppose if I made them using hot dogs instead of apples then the dog would eat them too. I could call them Frank Fritters!

                      HI COWCATCHER,

I don't think Tequila would work, but the Crown Royale would. And yes, you could cut the recipe in half. As far as how long they would last?...not long around here...or anywhere else if MikeC. was nearby! "Frank Fritters" sounds good...if'n you called them "HOT-DOG" Fritters, then you stand a chance of having your dog run away!
