    I told you I wasn't an expert.

Does anybody know where I can find a Rock Island font ? I've been busy painting a stock car and tank car in bankruptcy blue, and I can come fairly close to the right font with a couple of ones already on my computer, but they're not as perfect as I'd like.

    Mike

Logos were often drawn up specially rather than using an existing font, however I have one Rock car here so I'll go through my font collection to see if I have something close, do you have a link to an image of a Rock Island font in case mine isn't accurate?

I just went through my collection of 950 fonts, the nearest I could find is called Mechanical but even that has differences. One option I could suggest is that you create your own font, you could edit one of the closest ones you have until it meets your requirements. You can find some font editing programs here: http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.ht...search=+Go%21+

They are all shareware but if you only want them for one use you can delete the program when you are done.

Hope this is of some help.

        Here's a link for logos:

For the specific font I rather doubt its available. You could check at Wal-Mart or someplace for a CD-ROM of True Type fonts. I have one with 1000 fonts but alas tis Windows 3.1 and the batch viewer won't install on Windows 2000 so I have to view them one at a time. Long process, maybe someday I'll see if there is an updated version of the batch viewer.

Here's a link for railroad fonts. This is a pay service but you can browse for free. They do have the pre-Rock RI font.

            Mike,

Speaking of fonts and heralds... Does Microscale have a bridge herald for the ROCK logo of the 70s? I have seen a few bridges with the red and white Rock Island herald, but was looking for the newer THE ROCK herald for a couple of my rail overpasses.

            Thanks in advance.

If you mean the "R" that's part of the bankruptcy blue scheme, then yes - definitely. I got a couple of those sheets for renumbering and other uses. Hang on and I'll get you the order #.

                  Mike,

Thanks. That will help. They didn't have separate white THE ROCK? I CAN live with just putting Rs on my bridges though.

The new track plan will have several overpasses with railroad bridges, and I will have a couple BN, a couple ROCK and a couple BNSF.

                  Later man.
