  • We're a "Topic" Again

Last night I ran across a topic at Atlas called "Other Forum," and yes, it was about this one. Some of the postings leaned toward being non-commital, but others were critical. Although some of the comments irked me, I decided to keep quiet. But this morning I changed my mind, so I have posted a response to "set the record straight" - at least from my perspective. I suppose someone will try to characterize me as a "flammer," but that's ok. I just get tired of folks who claim to spend very little time at something (like visiting this forum) suddenly offering "authoritative" opinions about the very thing they claim to know nothing about.

    Grrr. gripe.. grumble.. grumble....

Mike I like your response in that topic, I also added to it my own "opinion", What i found interesting is that some of them were "happy" Lou, Bob, and a few of us were here and staying away from Atlas and at the same time there is a topic on the DCC forum telling Atlas to invite Lou back (which I emailed to Lou yesterday).

One thing I noticed is everytime they post a topic about us we get a surge of new members, so let them post.

BTW Welcome to the RR-Line forum Dave Plummer AKA Foamer!!

The common techno-nerd definition is someone who flames, i.e., someone who makes negative, critical comments, burns others, and keeps the "fires" going. Since there's no entry for the word in my Webster's College Dict., I used the double M spelling because that's the most acceptable spelling for "flammable."

Although I still check in to the Atlas forum I like this one because it's not so negative. Sometimes I think the posting on the Atlas forum tends to be too harsh. Now if I could just get George over here on the Rock Island forum.

I thought a flammer was a guy who likes to go to a male bar and party.

I don't know anything about that particular definition.

Heck, I just realized that I haven't even been in a bar in probably 30 years or more. ...

I appreciate the positive things said about our forum here on the Atlas thread.

I pray we never become engage in the negative that I see there at times or the somewhat censored moderatings rendered.

We're free here to express ourselves and I believe that brings out the best in us and has bound us as friends allied in the common good of a great hobby!

I even appreciate the 'good morning' postings, since, after all, aren't most of us just simply trying to get thru the day unscathed?

                      The encouragement is great!

Especially to Lou, I think folks here fully appreciate the talent and ability technically you bring to those of us thoroughly confused by our DCC units. We love 'em anyway.

Thanks guys for eloquently standing for our forum!

Most of us participate in both forums. There seems to be a few new guys that like to take cheap shots. What are they so worried about? If you don`t like this forum,we`re not holding a gun to their head to make them read this site.If Atlas does`t lock this topic,I`ll be disappointed with Atlas at their site.Don`t get me wrong I think Atlas products are one of the best out there that`s somewhat affordable.I just posted my reply to the topic in a politically correct way as not to be what some members have become.I have over 200 replies on Atlas so I know what it should be(friendly).I`m just shocked that Atlas has let this go on for this long.

As one of those who looks at both forums I will repeat my comments here.

I'm more concerned with too many forums spreading information too far and wide. I don't get a lot of time to look (except when on the night shift!) so I can miss something. Atlas has considerably more members but this forum is set up better. If I want info on a certain subject I can see what has been posted easier.

Having said this I will not criticise either forum (I gave up with trains.com a long time ago).

No 'Thirdrail' you are not out of place here. The original topic was posted on the Atlas HO forum. Thats why this Forum is easier to follow. Topics like this would have been posted on the 'Off Topic Discussion' forum and not the HO Forum.

Well as far as I know most of the world IS HO, but why don't you get some of your pals over here and get things going? If there are no N scalers here, you aren't gonna get a lot of "N only" topics huh? BTW I have well over 1,000 posts "over there" but I like it here a lot more!
