  • Fire Station??

Hello, I have never built any buildings from a kitbash or scratch, for that matter I am working on my first layout. Anyway I hav looked and looked for a fire station to house my equipment. The only ones that I have found have been small structures with only two equipment bays. I have 4 engines and one cheif car, So I need at least 4 equipment bays. Any Ideas on how to build a modernized USA style fire staion with 4 equipment bays. This might be to big of a task to tackle but I am willing to try. If someone will help.

Hi, Andrew. If you can lay your hands on a Walthers catalog check out the Structures section and look at some of the Rix Pike Stuff buildings. They might meet your needs for modern and customizable buildings. I have built a couple and they're kind of fun to work with.

I found this article http://www.horailroad.com/clinic2/cl2_005.htm that might fit your needs if you can't find a kit.

              Andrew,

You could also take one like Walther's new one and combine two kits into one firehouse (kit bash) it. http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-2809 Taking 2 bays from one and adding the to the other, It would be easy to do with this kit just cut the front between the people door and the first bay and adding it to the other kit.

I agree with NYC,the fastest and easiest way to get what you want is to buy two fire stations and put them together without the walls between them. That way you can build what you want until your ready to try your own structures. There are a few books on building your own and will give you alot of tips.Even genaric kits can be changed to fit your needs. As NYC posted this is kitbashing also. Have fun mostly!
